My mom is disabled and she has a hard time from day to day just getting out of bed and functioning normally. But, let me tell you when her granddaughters are over she is a whole new person. Full of energy and she just seems to be healthier. I don't think it's strange to love to be around your grandchildren. Kids are so full of life and they are so innocent, you can't help but be happy. My kids keep me young and when they are around their grandparents them seem to give them renewed youth. ^.~

When I had my first grandchild, I couldn't believe the joy brought into my life. I would drive straight to her house every day after work for probably the first two months of her life. I couldn't get enough. I still can't. I have two more now and the love I have for the three of them astounds me. To answer your question, no it is not strange to want to be surrounded by babies. Babies are such a precious gift from God. They are pure and sweet and so vulnerable and fragile. And when they don't have poop in their pants, they smell great too. Enjoy your granddaughter. I hope you have many more. You sound like you're going to be a great grandma.

Not strange at all.
I too like babies. They are a promise for a future. Perhaps they are precious to us because we know they are innocent. Sometimes I fear I am too friendly toward people with babies. I think I made one lady nervous when I expressed admiration for her baby. Evidently there are still some women who are not accustomed to men taking notice of and appreciating babies??
So now I just smile as a way to let people know I am happy to see they have a baby. If they talk to me first then I will respond. Otherwise, I admire from afar. Unless they are family and then I insist on my turn holding and playing with them...
Enjoy the little ones for too soon they will be talking about drivers license and graduation and you will wonder how the years passed so quickly. I know....

its not strange at all to love babies and want to be surrounded by them. i mean, whats not to love about babies? my mother-in-law is the same way. my daughter is the center of her world, and her best days are when she gets to baby sit for me. i love seeing her so happy with my daughter! the only person who can come as close to loving a child like thier parents can, is the grandmother. babies are incredibly special! if you want to be surrounded by babies, why not work part time at a daycare?

No she is an extension of you your youth and second chance. Raising children and being a grandparenting are completely different. Grandparents get to spoil love laugh be fun make memories whereas when you were a parent you were busy making rules and regulations setting limits. You are getting the chance to enjoy then you get to leave and take those moments with you.

No, why not work for a day care center or somewhere you can interact with children daily?
