My stepdaughter is just now becoming a rebellious teen and is neglecting to do her weekly chores. We can't ground her because my husband and I both work so that we’re not home to prevent her from leaving the house during the day. She doesn’t drive or collect an allowance. Really we've really never had a reason to punish her in the past. Any suggestions?

My 4 year old's father does nothing really for her, I really regret even bothering with trying to force him to pay child support for her, he lied about his income so he pays really nothing per month he's behind about three months and he has back support. He never see's her his choice, and mine due to his careless life, and actions, she has a step father that has been in her life since she was 4 months old, she loves him, and he loves her, but now that I want to let him become her legal father, which he agrees on, due to her dead beaters legal aspects, he doesn't want to drop his rights to her but he does nothing, she has my last name she knows nothing about him, so how do I get around him? To let her be recognized witht the father that she deserves?

My parents and I have been having a fight, of course to them they are never wrong and I am always wrong. They treat me like dirt, and lately I have been getting literally sick from every thing. I cannot continue to live this way. I started college level classes last semester at the community college to try to get a good education and get out from home. But ever since I started things have been getting worse. I turned 17 in Nov. and my dad told me that this semester I would HAVE to take his math class or I cannot go to the community college. (Both my parents are math teachers there). And that was the worst turn for the worst of many. My dad expects nothing less than perfection. And what started the fight today was my dad yelling at me about doing something wrong in the homework. The thing is that 2 days ago I ASKKED him how to do it, and followed his directions EXACTLY. I have been staying up to 3am doing homework EVERY DAY for the last 3 weeks because I cannot do homework in the day.

I was married to my x for 5 years. Seperated in '01 and divorced and got custody of my children in '04. My Q is my two kids went through a lot while I left the house, I wish i could have took them with me but you know that laws the mother get the rights of the children. My kids are know in counceling (therapy) and I keep them active in school activites and sports to keep their mind off this crap.
Here it is: they've witnissed their mother doing drugs abusing alcohol and having sexual intercourse in front of them. I know this because they were acting out in ways they were not supposed to. I even called children services and had them talk to a psychitrist.
I don't talk much about their mother to them but they do see her everyother weekend (court order). I asked a Q "Does a mother who lost custody of her children...." Well, I know my daughter wants to move back to her mothers, she don't say it but she's miserable here... I just don't know what to do?

...your daughter dress for school? I have a 16 yr old girl and she dresses very modestly but stylish, but some of the girls at her school are half naked and we live in a cold climate. What's up with that? Do parents ever say NO to their kids anymore? And PS how can the boys be expected to concentrate on school work with these half naked tarts about?

Sometimes when my son thinks I'm sleeping he will come into my room and start touching me and playing with himself. He's 13 and I know he is just going through puberty but I'm not sure if I should bring it up to him or leave it be. I'm afraid that if he sees that I woke up while he is doing it he would be embarrassed so I need to speak with him at another time than when it is happening. I'm hoping it is just a phase and it will stop on its own. Any suggestions?

For the past two nights I have heard a lot of arguing and cursing coming from my neighbor's house. I happened to look outside last night and saw my neighbors 15 year old daughter sleeping in the dog house. It was 10 degrees outside here. I was outraged. I went out their to talk to her and she said that her parents had put her out of the house for eating too many pork chops. I tried to get her to come into my house but she was too afriad. She didn't want her parents to be anymore angrier with her then they already were.
My husband told me that I need to shut up and mind my own business and let the neighbor's handle their own business with their own child. Should I continue to let the neighbor's put their daughter out of the house or should I contact someone about what is going on next door?

His father does live in town with my mother and we do not have legal custody documents drawn up. I know I need something that says my mom can make decisions with health if needed, but what other things do I need to include? I will only be gone for 4 days, but I am just worried cause it's my first time away from him.

She spoiles her kid to no end. It's not even 8am here and he asked her for a cookie while she was outside starting the car to warm it up. When she said no he locked her out of the house. This is my landlady's daughter (who happens to live at home, jobless, 34 and pregnant with her second child...yeah a real winner). Is there any hope for some of these kids today? And for the parents?

I have a lovely daughter 16 presently soon to be 17 going to her first Prom and independent. Boys are starting to notice and she has her own car . She communicates socially through facebook emails and cell phones. We always do not get the truth as we know from her and a boy of 20 has taken interest. What rules and consequences and parenting can you suggest that shows respect and safety for all parties.

Should i tell my dad about the following matter or just sign the note myself?
During a test yesterday one of my friends were bothering me to show him the answers the teacher saw and hear us and stoped us from taking the test, gave us a warning, wrote a note to our parents which we gotta take back signed and she will let us retake the test but it will drop from the score.
If i show my dad the note do you think he would be mad and i could risk a punishment?
