not sure i would go all out and have tests done and put her in that situation at such a young age. my first daughter got a tooth at 2.5 months, talked at 6 months (few words) at 9 months could do wooden puzzles on her own with them being mixed up with other wood puzzles, could put vcr tapes in a play them on her own, and by 1.2 she could do 50 piece puzzles backwards all on her own with no help, i thought she was a darn genius lol but i just tried to keep her busy at things she liked so she would never get bored, and let her draw, colors, play with things that cause her to use her mind. my daughter is now almost 9 and perfectly normal, all A's and B's in school. not sure she would have been so social if she would have had to be tested and put through all that. but make your best judgment good luck!

You won't know for sure until she is about 4 or 5. She will have to be tested by a qualified child psychologist in order to know how gifted she is...the downside is that if she isn't you maybe putting undo pressure on her...just let her be a kid for now....

Yah, you're right, parents always admit that their child is something different and special, and we all do. You said she's 1 yr. old right?, then I advice you to wait a while till she can talk properly and give a good sign of that something special. Meantime, you can help her to develop more on this special trait . Hope you well.

A word of warning - my daughter started speaking at 7 months, could read and spell long before she went to school, etc etc. She's average now. Being precocious isn't always a sign of being gifted.

It is wayyyyyy to early to tell if your daughter is gifted. Don't worry about it at this point. Focus on bonding emotionally with her and having her establish strong relationships with others. Read to her, olay games with her, and check things out later when it's time for her to go to school.

That "gifted" label is a big deal for PARENTAL self esteem, but it does nothing for the kid. Deal with your child as an individual; all individuals have their own gifts.

Well said Bill it doesnt matter. Don't treat her differantly, let her develop, you'll adapt with her. Parents who push their kids may feel good short term, but long term, thats a miserable kid.

have her tested - personally, I'd wait a while. A 1 year old is still pretty young. Make sure you let her be a kid

Take her to a doctor who can do tests with her to see if she is gifted or just a little advanced. Good luck!

she very well may be gifted only time will tell, don't put to much pressure on her let her develop at her own pace just encourage her and teach her new things daily to stimulate her.
