if a non custodial parent releases the right to the child then they dont have to pay the custodial parent any child support.. and the other person can let the child be adopted if they get remarried... it usally comes down to the person releasing the right of a child so they dont have to pay any support.. my ex wanted to do that when our daugher did not want to see him.. but i was able to talk her into giving him another chance..see they were so different in personality they have a hard time to get along.. but i still think that she need her father in her life

So someone else can adopt the child. If a father gives up custody then the mothers husband can adopt the child and the other way around. They dont have to pay child support which helps out people who has trouble paying.

They no longer have any responsibility--financial or otherwise for the child. To be allowed to sign over one's rights, there must be another person (usually a new spouse) willing to adopt the child, and assume parental responsibilites. The person signing away rights is then considered to legally be just another "stranger" with no ties or rights to the child, this also means they will not ever be able to sue for custody or claim the child for tax purposes, or government benefits.

people do this because the other parent is usally having a new spouse adopt their child or doesn't want the other parent involved anymore....the child support does stop, except if there is any back child support due, this is still paid until it is finished but the person no longer has any rights to the child at all.

the person who signs away parental rights to a child
has no interest or rights with that child anymore
like a woman who gives up her child in adoption
so therefore no child support either unless the person paying is in arrears(has fallen behind) that money is still owed

Typically, yes. However, this is usually only done in the case of adoption (incuding step-parent adoption) ...especially if the child doesn't have much of a relationship with the parent.

Yes, its like having your name taken off the birth certificate. this is usually done because the custodial parent has married or remarried, and the new husband or wife wants to adapt the child as their own.
