Pay for her and a few friends to have dinner at Pizza Hut/ Cafe Uno (depending on budget). She will feel very grown up having/ ordering dinner on her own (confidence boost). You can either sit at another table and read a book/paper until they are finished or return an hour or so later. You could leave your mobile number with waiter if there are any problems.
If budget allows you could drop them off at cinema later.
No fuss or bother (just need to book table and invite guests.)

Take a few of her friends to the cinema or swimming or ice skating and then to a fast food place after, or you could let her have a sleepover, where they can paint their nails, watch films and order a pizza. A party of any sort usually does take time to organise, unless you have plenty of money and you book one of those places that does everything for you, i used to work at a huge play area and party's their were still popular with 10 year olds. Good luck!!

A simple birthday party with some of her friends would be ideal for a girl's 10 year old birthday party. Make the party her favorite theme'd cartoon character, and if you don't know, ask her!

If that's too much of a hassle. Take her to the movies with a couple of friends, and while she's there, have a cake waiting for her and her friends when she gets home.

Ask her for some hints as you wouldnt want dissapointment on the day. There are some places that can organise the whole thing for you, entertainment, food etc. Girls that age can be very grown up in their heads and it would be awful if you embarrassed her in front of all her friends by doing the wrong thing. Ask her friends mothers too. Usually at that age a simple sleepover with pizza and you out the way is what they want but ask a female grown up to accompany them for your own piece of mind.

My daughter loved a 'girly' party. They had a video, played with make up and had food they chose which was home made pizza they made. It was a great success. Make it a 'no male' zone for part of it as some children are sensitive when they experiment. Are there favourite aunties or friends you can ask? I would say for most children that the best thing anyone can give is time, other things are not so important.

Why don't you ask her? explain that money and time is limited. I bet she suprises you.

not all 10 year olds have the same likes, she will kill you if you throw her a kiddies party (macdonalds or bouncy castle!!) and she's into bowling or cinema (why not both?) choose one or two friends if costs are high (ie cinema) or 7/8 friends if money allows.

She might only want to spend her day with a select few - not her whole school (I've been there - I know)

Rent some movies that they will enjoy and invite three or four of her friends to stay overnite. Make sure that you have an array of snacks. I would suggest nuts, popcorn, some bagged snacks, chocolates, and soft drinks. This would be a nice tradition to begin and carry on through several years. My daughter did this for several years then went to the skating rink with them for two years. They always had a BlAsT together. Have fun with this. She is only young once!

As she is going to be 10 (double figures at last!) she is old enough to have some input - ask her what she would like... explain why you don't have a lot of YOUR time (interesting use of words) to sort it out.

When speaking to your daughter, I suggest you DON'T use the word "my" when referring to time!

Re-read your own question - firstly with the "my" left in; and then with the "my" taken out - see how it alters the whole feeling of the sentence? (Especially to a 10 year old!)

You could organise a mini 'pamper' party - someone to come in and do their hair and nails. Any 10 year old girl would love to be made a fuss of in this way - it will make her feel grown up and very special. There should be someone in your local area who does this sort of thing. Good luck!
