I have an ad on Craigslist, and I can't afford the newspaper. Any other ideas? Even places to put flyers would help. Thanks!

Post fliers everywhere. Convenience stores, grocery stores, restaurants, factories, colleges, corner lamposts, anywhere you can.
Church is a great place to start, also with any friends who have little sibblings and can't watch them. Have your parents put up fliers or pass the word around at work. If your parents have friends with small children, they are likely to know and trust you.
As soon as you get your first job, put an ad in the paper. Use the first job as a reference, and keep your prices reasonable. Before you know it you won't be doing anything but sitting and you'll be rolling in the dough!

A) I don't think you want the type of clients that are going to be looking for a babysitter on Craigslist. Unless, of course, you mean "babysitter" in the kinky role-playing way.
B) Put flyers up on the bulletin boards of local grocery stores and the like. Put them up at "good" stores, not ones in seedy parts of town. There are a lot of perverts out there that would love the anonymity of no digital paper trail, but it's still about the best way to get babysitting jobs. Basically anywhere that single mothers or parents need to go (groceries, wal-mart, etc) is where you should be advertising.
Screen your clients, don't be afraid to turn them down if you do not feel comfortable when you speak with them or first visit their house.

The best way to advertise is through previous customers but that takes a while,flyers are a good start,refrences are to.

try putting flyers on grocery store, gas stations,laundermat, church,bulletins. Let everybody you know that you will baby sit and they will pass the word around

the best way is to advertise to your parents friends and coworkers. that would be your best bet. but if that doesnt work for you try to put up some fliers in laundrymats or on bulletin boards that some grocery stores have.

laundry mats, even apartments is the perfect place, they usually mail a mail center where they post their own things and advertisements.
We have Walmart and alot of advertisements there.

if you are a teenager, and you have a sibling in the elementry school, i'm not sure if your town does, but my town puts a babysitting list in the school phone book, I have gotten a few jobs from people seeing my name there

you could post a bulletin at church, most peopel are willing to leave their children with someone that goes to church with them rather than a stranger
