Everything has been answered that needs to I'm sure except that pedophilia has a lasting impact. Children who are molested are hurt for the rest of their lives. They never fully heal from the damage done. They can go on to have functioning and loving healthy relationships but they will always struggle with things that are directly caused from abuse they recieved as a child. A lot of the time they don't even know as an adult that what they are dealing with was caused by the abuse.

Most people who are child molesters and child rapists (this includes those who have sex with underage teenagers) repeat their crimes over and over. They convince themselves that the kids want it. They convince themselves that the kids are capable of making adult decisions and having the same emotional maturity as adults in connection to sex and sexual activity.

They try to date single mothers and gain access to children through friends and family. It's almost always someone you know. Teach your kids about how to say no, teach them it's ok to say no and to tell you if someone has ever touched them in a private place.

I was raped and molested from ages 4-6 by my mother's second husband.

A pedophile is someone that gets their sexual kicks from kids...Get that child away from him! My child was molested by my father-in-law and someone that I used to call my friend. Why they do this, doesn't matter, protecting you little one does! It would probably be the hardest thing you've ever done, but you really need to call the authorities.
My father-in-law passed away and my former friend served 11 years in jail and now lives on the other side of the state. My daughter is an adult now and doing wonderful. I wish you and your child the best of luck and my prayers...

while it is no excuse some paedophiles were abused as children and dont know how to cope with the pain, shame, rage and are very confused sexually. but some were never abused and just have these feelings. a child is not old enough til they are at least 16 to make decisions about their sexuality, some paedophiles campaign for sex with children to be made legal stating the children are made to please adults and they child enjoys it but being sexually abused myself at 6 years old i can say with out doubt i did not enjoy or even understand my sexuality at that age and i see it as abuse. it has effected every part of my life since then to this day. and it will for the rest of my life. it hasn't ruined my life cause i wont let it but if i didnt have the support of my family and friends it very easily could have destroyed me.
