you should check into social security for your child. i volunteer in a day program for children and adults with cerebral palsy. its a place that parents/gaurdians drop thier family members off for the day, so they can work, run errands, or just have time off. it would be good for your child to have social interaction with people in a day setting like this. where i volunteer, we play games, watch movies, have lunch, go on outings, arts and crafts, all kinds of stuff. and each activity is tailored to each individuals needs. and most of these places are funded by the state, so i'm sure they could give you some information on where to get started. there are even agencies that will have somebody come to your home every day to care for your child. there are lots of options out there, just keep looking! just remember to find something that will work for you and your child and the rest of your children. good luck with everything!

Does your state have a program where they pay someone to stay with your disabled child during the day? In my state they will pay YOU to stay home with your own child.

What you may look into is to get a roommate that will stay with your children. That way you can work without worry, and your kids will have someone there all of the time.

You could always go on welfare, see if you can claim disability for the disabled child, you should receive a stipend from the government see if your child's Dr can help you.

You should at any rate, go to your local welfare office and see what they can do for you.

As far as I know they have many government programs for people with a disabled child. Like financial help and special schools. I can't really tell you more then that. I have lots of friends with disabled children but I have never experienced it for myself. Good luck!

You are going to make ALOT of phone calls. Some helpful, others not. Don't give up.There is help out there! Welfare will help 'till you get things rolling. But it is not along term solution. Social security is. It helps pays bills that come with a disabled child. Also, They will set you up with a case worker that will help find either a daycare for special kids or a in home nurse.
Try calling the local children's hospital to see if they can help find social workers for your family.
Good Luck!!! God only gives what he knows you can handle.

Why can't you have a job? If your child truly has a disability and you qualify, you can get SSI. But, I don't understand why you can't work. I have a disabled child and worked when I had to, now I'm able to stay home.

Apply for social security disability for your child until it goes through apply for foodstamps, housing assistance, and whatever else you can get. I had to do it for 2 years while my son had major opertations on his lungs. I felt guilty at first but my dad that he had been paying taxes for years and I shouldn't feel guilty it was like he was paying for it. You need to take care of your disabled child. Put your children first.

I would check ur local phone book...sometimes there are community programs and agencies that can help with the care of your disabled child, depending on where you live. You can also call the county health dept and social services to see if they can give you info....good luck.
