it also depends on what they are doing.
if it is a rainy day then they can stay on longer and play games
if they need to talk to friends also let them have more times, teenage years are rough and sometimes they need to just talk to their friends.
if they are just sitting watching videos on you tube when its is a sunny day
then i suggest having them spend less time.
for ppl around here {ny} we spend All day on the computer. its not really healthy but i giess it is out main way of communication. don't limit them to half an hour but don't let them be bums like my friends
good luck

Teens are attracted to the computer. For most that's how they talk to people and keep there life going. I would depend it on how much free time they have. Kids that age some time over work so give them most of their free time to relax. But if they have alot of free time make sure the computer isn't all what they want to do, so maybe 2-4 don't set a deffinate time because they will tend to resent you for that or just find away to get around that time limit.

Probably 1 hour per day unless you are doing actual research for a school project. Then no more than 3 hours per day.
Reason: time on the computer is NOT the real world. Very easy to get hooked on online activities. Problem is, the real world requires actual interaction with real people. Too easy to hide behind a screen name and a firewall. Online interaction allows you to behave in ways that you would not in person, face-to-face. That's not reality, just an illusion.

well, they should be in school, which means they are gone usually about 7/8 AM - 2/3 PM, and if they get on the computer after that, i give an estimate 2-3 hrs AT TOPS..... for myself personally, i probably spent 2 hours on average a day.... from the AIM fad to e-mails and myspace and such (i don't use those anymore, cellphone is more convenient)

I would say no more than an hour a day, unless it's for school work. And then the computer should still be in the family room where parents can be a visible presence.

for 11-14 i'd say about an hour..because all they really do is play games.
15-16 i'd say atleast 2 hours due to home work..alot of homework is done online now.

I'd say no more than an hour a day on school days. They need to get out and be active and have enough time to do their homework too!
