I've always had a hard time getting him to talk to me. I have sort of given up but I've realized that is a big mistake. Any conversation starters or other ideas? I just want to know if any other children are like this.

ok,so I agreed to take care of her because my cousing had no one else..She is a single parent...I have two kids of my own 3yr and 14month.so I'm a stay home mom. The problem is my niece is very sentimental..she cryes for no real reason..I first try to talk to her ,but she won't listen she cryes louder..so then I ignor her..well 20min pass and she is still crying.I go and try to talk to her and the samething happends so I just have to let her cry til she gets tire..(Example of why she will start crying)..two days ago I found her under the bed drinking my douthers bottle..all I did was ask what are you doing(I saw what she was doing, but I acted like I didn't see her drinking the baby bottle) and from then on nonSTOP CRYING. and it is always like that..I can't tell her anything...So I talked to my cousing and told her to talk to her doughter, because if she didn't stop I don't think I can babysit her anymore..my niece just puts her head down, and just cryes. What do I do?

My (nearly) 7 year old plays with his friend, (who is also 7 years old). They get along great. This little boy wears glasses and they were just recently fixed. When our sons were playing today, rough as boys do, the other boy's father came over all mad complaining my son was "trying" to break his son's glasses. I defended my son in saying, they were just playing rough, as always. Isn't it his son's responsibility to remove the glasses, as a precaution? Instead, he yelled at and accused my son of intentionally trying to break his son's glasses. My son was all upset saying he got yelled at and was only playing. I told the boy's father this, and he walked away saying, "Your son deliberately tried to break my son's glasses." Boys will be boys. My son would never intentionally try to break another friend's belongings- they were just having fun. Why do some parents think they're kids are just so "perfect?"

My son threw up last night and I can't seem to get the smell out. I have already tried soaking it and then using the shop vac to suck up the moisture and cleaning it with vinegar. It still smells like puke!! HELP!!!

My husband and I need to have a will drawn up to ensure a good home for our children in case something was to happen to us. But I can't pick anyone from the people I know. I want them to have a christian upbringing, that would be my mother, but my step father isn't good with kids. My sisters..no way. My sister-in-law has LOTS of money but 5 kids of her own, who she rarely spends time with. My husbands parents are too sick (cancer) to take them. I just don't know! How did you pick?

The reason for this question is as follows: I have a seven year old child by a previous marriage and my present wife has a five year old son by a previous marriage. They interact together, I think as normal children, but as children go, there are times they bicker and tease one another. Our school system has a policy against Bullying- well my Step-sons kindergarden teacher called my wife to tell her my step-son told her (the teacher) that my daughter has been "bullying" him around the house- not "bullying" him at school. Other than what I consider "sibling rivalry", I see nothing more going on. Is there a difference between sibling rivalry and bullying? and- Is it proper for a Kindergarden Teacher to call a parent when a child complains about something which isn't school related?

Just hearing the words "baby daddy" makes me cringe. Big time. It's disgusting. I would go crazy if I grew up with only a mother. This country is in a serious ethical decay right now and I hope it improves again someday. A child needs to be born in the structural security of wedlock. In recent decades when people suddenly decided "hey it's ok to screw around and bring children into fatherless homes" then it caused nothing but a cycle of trouble that plagues our country as a social disease. A child needs a father and mother to be role models, raise them, and teach them right from wrong. When people have children out of wedlock they are being selfish by harming the kids who have to suffer from fatherless homes, and towards everyone else too because it's bad for our society. You think with all the trouble this has caused people would've already woken up but too many people still just don't get it.

My husband and I just moved to Washington state (he's in the army). He doesn't spend time as a family when he is home, but yet he wants me to have the energy to go out and do things I don't necessarily think are fun, in public, which seems to be the only place where he will act like a parent. Our daughter, Danielle, is 10 months old. Why is he so hung up on us doing "memorable" things outside the house when he can't even be a memorable parent at home? He wants us to drive out to the ocean, even though it's cold and rainy and a 1 and 1/2 hour drive, and nothing to do for a baby there. Why can't he just go do these things himself? Does he not get that Danielle is still really young and would benefit more from just spending time with him at the park or from him reading her a story or taking her for a walk and talking to her? I feel bad for not wanting to do things like this when it is so cold. He complains that he's going to miss everything. Yet he passes up opportunities everyday?
