I bought my children various games and consoles for christmas, but trying to get them to play with them for longer than an hour has been a nightmare. Night after night I try to get them to sit in front of the telly but all I hear is - Mum can we draw, Mum can we paint, there so ungrateful. Just last night I put the bratz website on for my daughter, as soon as my back was turned she had sneaked on to some site about saving rainforests, I was bloody livid. They think of nobody but their bloody selves my kids, self self self.

thats absolutely awful! handcuffing them to the games console should do it along wiv a ball and chain around their ankles. i would put a password on the computer to stop them visiting that rainforest site. i for one am all for global warming wiv these fantastic summers we`re now getting now and the winters are quite mild and lets not forget the intense thunder storms we get now. fantastic to watch wen ur high on drugs! for gods sakes don`t let them find the drugs otherwise they`ll be flushing them down the loo thinking they`re doing u a favour! bloody kids eh!

What you need is superglue.

Superglue their bums to the chair in front of the TV or PC and Superglue the joysticks to their hands.

Positive reinforcement should also help. For every 30 mins they stay playing the games console reward them with a Big Mac or a Mars Bar and a Can of Coke. As they get older you can use other rewards such as Beer, Benson & Hedges & Cannabis.

Children are such a handfull these days.

(How many people will think that this is a serious question and answer and thunmbs down and report abuse) (My guess is about 10)

When it's nice outside my son needs no encouragement, he loves being outside. When it's rainy or too cold to go outside I do let him watch TV a lot more then on nice days, but it's not all day. He has yet to play a video game or a computer game.

And I bet they refuse to eat your gorgeous chicken nuggets that you serve with large portion of chips topped with plenty of mayonnaise! Those ungrateful brats!!! How dare they demand fruits and vegetable???? I mean, they are for losers not for proper kids! You tell em. You could try strapping them in front of their games console, or threaten them that you will put red bull instead of still mineral water in their lunchboxes if they don't play for at least two hours. Good luck, sounds like you've got a right ungrateful lot there!

Kids always do opposite what you want so just tell them they are not drawing or anything else until they have watched telly for over 1 hour...then when they grow up and their brain cells are frazzled from doing this they will not be doing anything else but staring at the telly like vegies.

Wow! I'd count my lucky stars. Sounds like your kids are more interested in non technology things. That's kinda rare now days. I think more parents should be encouraging thier kids to get OUT from infront of the TV and read or go outside and play. Kids now days need encouragement to use their immagination. If they don't want to play counsle games don't force them.

Maybe you just bought the counsel because you wanted one.

you said they are kids, why border them with video game, if they want to draw and paint let them, instead of sitting in front of telly playing with some games, they have other things to do with their lives...instead of playing with video games day by day, it makes kids dull and un use full,, teach them how to help you around the house..

You should have started them at an earlier age, before they were really aware that there were other options. You only have yourself to blame if you let them draw and paint at some point in the past.
