I'm having a boy in May, and I havn't the first clue how to raise a boy! My daughter is 4, and doing girl stuff was easy. What's the biggest difference in the two, and how do you go about raising a baby boy?

In watching my niece and nephews grow from babies, these are some observations I have made:

1) Boys may start crawling, walking, and developing physical skills before the girls do. At the same time, the girls have a tendency to start talking and developing cognitive reasoning a little earlier than boys.

2) Boys tend to be a bit more curious and mischievous than girls. The girls may get into your makeup when they are two, but you will find the boys climbing to the top shelf a=of the linen closet when they are two.

3) Don't expect the boys to behave the same as the girls. My sister in law was raised in a girl-only family (save for her brother who was the oldest), and she has the expectation that her sons should be raised he same as she was. As a result, she is a HIGHLY overprotective mother whose almost 7-year-old son has hardly ever played outside!

Just bear in mind that boys develop differently than girls. You will catch on as time goes by.

One more thing to consider, when it comes to buying gifts: You can buy the girls the pretty dresses and all the other things that go along with their appearance, but boys don't really care about what kind of clothes you buy them. Boys care about the TOYS you buy them!

Boy vs. Girl?

Don't worry too much, I had the same concern but when you are a Mom it just come naturally, with a few tricks to master, you will learn to change your little boys diaper a lot faster because their little" worm" can sure spray far, even your face if you are not paying attention. With my little girl I had to buy the matching bow and the matching shoes and the matching nylons, than they want to carry their own little purse etc and it gets really expensive, but is fun so it's OK, but with the boys a cute pare of pants couple of layers of cute shirts cute socks and ready to go. Having a "little Mom" you will have a lot of help from her and they will really enjoy each other. I kind of laugh when people say "girls are so emotional blah blah blah, boys are so active blah blah blah" I think is more about the little spirit that is in that tiny body that is different one from another than if it's a girl or a boy. I feel so lucky to be able to learn different things from the two of them. My little girl is 2 and she still has a hard time going to sleep and my little boy sleeps through the night since he was two months and I have friends who had the opposite happened, so don't worry about it to much, you will do just fine, just worry about the diaper change, I mean that, you will see, good luck friend.

Boys are wonderful babies. I have two sons myself and everyone I know with girls think they are great until they turn 9. The only thing you need to watch for with baby boys is when they have wood and you change their diaper they will pee all over and the minute fresh air hits their balls they want to grab them. My oldest son one scratched his scrotum and I didn't notice until his next diaper change and there was blood in his diaper and I panic and rush him to the doctor for a little scratch that he probably made with his fingernail. You don't need to worry about what baby boys are like, worry about what puberty boys are like. The pimples and the quality alone time and long showers and the smells!! I have a husband and two sons and between urine all over the bathroom and boys coming at me from all directions trying to fart me I can't tell you how much air freshener I go through!

i might choose a woman, then 2 twins ( the two with diverse genders) and a sprint lovable boy on the tip :) woman- Valerie Ann (thirteen years previous) Boy- Sami Joseph ( 10 years previous) woman- Samara lauren ( 10 years previous) Boy - Adam Nathaniel ( 2 years previous) the reason i choose 2 ladies is so they could relate and communicate and have exciting as sisters and a similar with th brothers; have exciting, motor vehicle stuff, soccer ..and so on.. and that all of them have exciting mutually

i know that i was very energetic and always wanted to get dirty and play. Whereas you know girls are not as "crazy" as boys can be.
