My 12 year old is LD gifted. She has a learning disability but is gifted on top of it. If she does her school work she makes "A's". Her grades are not good becasue she doesn't turn things in and refuses to do assignments she thinks are stupid. That is the background.

My family (Mother, Sister, and myself) is planning a trip to Tokyo in April. I told my daughter that I'd bring her along (Not that I can afford it) if she obtained and maintained a B average. Her Semester grades come out in 2 weeks. She is not going to make her B.

Am I being to Harsh for not letting her go to Japan?

My daugher still wears pullups at night and I guess her friend called her diaper head... My daughter was quite hurt. I didn't hear it. My daughter is 7 and didn't know what to do.. I am trying to teach her that it is good to tell people when they cross the line. So I told her I would call the mom this time (to show her how to work conflicts out)... I called the mom and was very nice and said 'my daughter said this.. my daughter is really self concious about it and had hurt feeligns.. etc'. I asked her to talk to her daughter and explain that nothing is wrong with my daughter and she doesn't want to be called that.. etc. I kept it very upbeat and said 'no hard feelings, I just wanted to clear the air, so we can all go forward from here"... Did I do ok... would you be offended if I called you because of something my daughter said...?

My husband works long hours and is an obsessive clean freak! When he comes home from work he complains the moment he steps in the door about petty things...(toys, crumbs on the floor, etc...) Anytime he asks our two daughters, ages 6 and 4, to do something or disipline them, they scream and cry,run or totally ignore him. They tell him they hate him or wishes he would go back to work quite often. I know their behavior has hurt my husbands feelings and I've told them their behavior is unacceptable but it still continues...My husband rarely takes the time to spend time with the girls but does make it a point to spend time with our 3mo. son. I wonder if this has made the girls jealous and if this is the reason for it, but it was this way before my son was born it's just gotten worse. I want my kids to have a good relationship with their father but I'm not exactly sure what I can do to help make the relationship better. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Is it just me or are all kids pretty much spoiled rotten brats now days?
I look all around me and i see kids swearing at their parents, hitting and kicking, wrecking peoples property and just disrespectful tords anything and everyone. If a word is even mention about how shocking the behavior is to the parents, the parents defend and make excuess for the behavior. why cant they just accept the fact their child is doing wrong and correct it? is it really that hard?
What happen to pride and manners?
What is in store for these kids future?

Yes i am a mother

then why dont you leave the kids alone if the baby sitter isnt watching them. so now if the baby sitter isnt watching them then its just the same when nobodys there. so whats the point of having a baby sitter when she just sits on the couch and the kids are doing whatever. its just like they r home alone so why hire a baby sitter if thats what happens

What does it mean if a guy said he did not want children, and is now naming the children you are going to have.. Please dont say just ask him, because I do not want him to feel pressure either way. When the time is right, I will ask him, but for now I just want opinions.

In the begining he felt really strongly about not having children. He has since then made quite a few comments about children.

revenge, he is 14 and feels humiliated and scared, what should I do? i dont want to encourage him to fight, but he feels threatened by these boys who live in our area. the boys who punched him are smaller boys(same age) than my son, but always hang round in a large group. the attack was unprovoked, and my son has since told me the boys have made snidey remarks in the past which he has ignored

Did you know this?

1.) 9 out of 10 parents are in total denial about how atrocious their kids behavior is.
2.) 10 out of 10 parents get upset when a stranger in public has been assulted/insulted by their progeny and the person tells the kid to cut it out.
3.) 9 out of 10 diners do not find little M'ykaylah's screeching and wailing cute. Especially when they are paying $40 a plate (or more) for their meal.
4.) Some adults do not like kids (gasp) and really want to enjoy themselves in adult centered places without the distraction of unruly brattz.

I am opening my own business soon, and I live in Brooklyn, NY some of the rates are $150-$200 per week for infants and $125-150 wk for toddlers and $50-100 wk for after school children. My hours would be 7:30am-6:30pm providing breakfast, lunch and snacks. With a daily learning program such as ABC's, arts and crafts, reading, ect.
And it would help to know the general area you live in, to compare with my own area. Thanks!

It scares me how easily so many women put their children aside in order to pursue a career or go to work.
I understand some people honestly dont have any options, there are different circumstances in which child care is the only option. But wouldnt it be better to desire a smaller home, a cheap vehicle, live a simpler life than risk their children emotional and mental wellbeing?
Neglect is one of the most dangerous forms of child abuse and a child care cannot provide the love and attention a parent can give.
