Do you clean up the messes your kids make at restaurants? Or, do you leave it for the staff to do?

I am a server. I feel parents should clean up some of their childs mess. Granted not everything cause we have people there to do that but it's polite and I feel the right thing to do before you leave. And always remember to tip your servers good. It's a hard job. ;)

Now i am a mother but when I was a student I was a waitress so i know what it is like.......on the rare occasion that we bring the little ones out to restaurants we most certainly do clean up after them, and leave an extra tip for their patience.

I try not to leave huge messes. If stuff is spilled, I clean it up and I make them pick up anything that they dropped on the floor. I tip well, too, especially if my kids have made any kind of mess.

I clean up most of it...but except the food on the floor! I do leave a bigger tip if there is a huge mess! Sometimes accidents happen that can't be avoided!

When I take my daycare kids out to eat I clean up the mess--pick up food out of the floor or ask for a broom if it's bad. I wipe down the highchairs with sanitizing wipes before and after use, I also clear their plates and wipe the table. I try to leave it ready for the next customer.

As a Mother of 3, and a waitress, YES YES YES, im not saying you get on your hands and knees and clean up crumbs but waitresses do not get paid enopugh to clean up messes as such. Also it shows what kind of parent, and human being you are. You clean up your children s messes at home, so you are showing your children how to be a responsible person, in the home and outside

I don't know what you're supposed to do. But, If my kids make a mess, I usually pick it up a bit. If It's a huge mess and I leave it for the staff, I compensate that in their tip. :)

I clean up and stack my plates as much as possible. But if my kids make a huge mess, then I am sure to tip well. My hubby is a very happy tipper.

I would clean it up. I don't like leaving a big mess behind when i go out.

A month ago I was at IHOP. I was on the floor cleaning up the mess and the manager came over and begged me not to. He said "Please don't clean up, we have people that do that". He immediately sent over a busboy to clean the mess. I have never had that happen before and I was kind of shocked.

I always clean up their messes to the best of my ability.
