Drives me crazy...why some people don't care about helping support their kid!!!

In my situation...my step-daughter's Bio-Mom doesn't help out a bit! Come on...she's only ordered to pay $117 a month...not like its $400!

I just think that no matter the situation...both parents are responsible for helping support a child. I mean, if a parent doesn't spend any money or care for a child living in their home, then Child Protective takes them away.

Why should child support be any different? You are still responsible for paying to help raise that child...no matter what. You don't want to...sign off your rights.

As far as it going to the other parent and not paying for the kid...Bull...the money is just reinbursing the custodial parent for moneys already paid out...more than the acctual child support is anyhow!

I dont understand it either.. but in Ontario, where I'm from, they have some decent laws out now.. the mother/father needs the father/mohters social insurance number, she gives it to the courts, and they track him, and as soon as he has a job, they take it right out of his pay! there are still dead beet fathers, and mothers out there though, working under the table so they dont get it taken from their pay, also though if the courts find out and its years later, he has to pay back pay for all the years. I think its rediculous too, I think a lot of parents use their kids to get at each other, like the dad or mom, sais I'm not paying for jimmy wont that upset my x... and they don't understand that its actually hurting the child. Pisses me off too! Good Question... good luck with your answers

Sometimes it's dead beats, sometimes it's financial hardship and sometimes it has to due with the parents being upset with one another. I just hate when people say the custodial parents only spends the money on themselves; as long as they are still feeding, clothing, housing and raising the child that takes money!

It is a control issue with the parent that has to pay. They don't see it as a way to help raise the child because of course, they don't see actually where the money is going. They see it as a way that the primary parent has control of their money that they pay to help raise the child. Hope you understood that.

because they are lazy like my sister. My sister's daughter has major health issues and if my sister were to get a job, she should have to help pay for her daughters care. So, she lives off of my mom and mooches money from anyone that will lend some. I don't like this trait. I asked her if she felt bad about it and she'd say that she doesn't because she's been cursed with a sick kid. I told her she's pathetic and now we don't talk anymore. I am appalled by her only thinking of herself. She doesn't do anything because she's lazy.

well, you have to remember that yes there are deadbeats out there but then there are some who aren't even getting by on there own. i live with my boyfriend we have a daughte together and he has 2 boys from previously, when he was working he was always paying his child support but he lost his job and although he is trying he has not found anything except temp work here and there for a few days through temp services. its not that he is trying to get out of paying but once you fall behind in everythinig else it is hard to get back on track. and honestly she makes good money, and inherited money as well. honestly i don't thik she deserves money from him (not b/c i'm the other women) but in our situation she uses the kids against him he is supposed to have them every weekend she refuses to let him and she's supposed to drop them off at 7 and just won't show up and stupid things like that, but he is afraid to take her to court b/c he knows he owes backpay.
so not everyone is puposely out there choosing not to pay especially in our economy today, people are just trying to get by.

I don't know. I never will be able to figure out "dead beat dads". I'm still waiting on my children's first child support check and that was thirty-five years ago. The statute of limitations ran out long ago. Those of you who say I should have gone to court over it, believe me I have enough court orders to wall paper a room with them and that didn't do any good....he just kept moving.

That depends some are dead beats and wouldn't know the word responsibility if it bit them in the ^&^&^&. Others simply can afford it, and instead of asking for help or reevalutaion and making a plan or some sort of agreement to get it to a reasonalbe amoutn they can afford they would rather not pay.

you know that is a good question. My ex husband said he would rather go to jail than pay me child support. When I return a question asking him to sign off rights he said "No, I want her to know who her father is".....astonishing, he wants her to know he's a worthless peice of ****!

Because sometimes they feel that they are supporting the wife not the children and in a lot of cases it is true. My mom got child support for a while and all I saw of it was her new clothes.
