I would tip her back and use a medicine dropper to put the medicine in. You also might want to call the pediatrician if there is a 24 hour answering service. Otherwise, I would probably take her to the ER.

You little one must feel rotten. I would just put the tylenol in the side of her mouth and if that doesnt work, you can always give her a tylenol suppository. If she has cold symptoms, you can give her some over the counter stuff for cold.
I would not rush her to the ER. Just call her doctor and he will tell you what to do. My son used to get temps of 105 when he was a toddler. I remember being a young mother and terrified, but it is just the way little ones are. They have a very active immunity and get high fevers. Dont rush to the ER. Call your doctor first. He may want you to bring the little one to convenient care or to his office or just see the baby tommorrow or may suggest an ER visit. I agree with lunachic above. A bath for a fever should be medium tepid, not cool. Cool water will only make the baby shiver and bring her temperature up. Keep her cool with no clothes and a lite blanket.

Well you're going to have to hold her down and put the medicine for a fever down her throat unfortunately, I have a 2 year old she had 102 fever a month ago from strep throat, and I had to FORCE meds down her at first, now she takes them on her own. But just lay her down squeeze her cheeks and explain what you're doing that it will make her feel better, she'll fight but just do it I know it's hard. Then rub her throat and get her to swallow if you can, she might spit some out it's ok. Then don't let her take clothes off keep her dressed this is to sweat it out, the ER will more than likely not fuss MUCH over it since she's 18 months if she were under 6 months they would. But it's not a bad idea to take her up there to see what is wrong. She probably just has the flu or strep throat something like that.

Medicine in water isn't likely to be a hit. Mix it with a small amount of juice, electrolyte fluid or Gatorade. A small amount is going to be easier to deal with than a large amount then it'll only be a couple of swallows. If you put it in a small cup that's unusual it may be more interesting.

Meanwhile, at 103° you need to call your pediatrician. There are some things going around right now, but your daughter's doctor may want to see her just to check to make sure that the fever isn't being caused by something serious.

I just experienced this over Thanksgiving Break. My doctor told me to give my daughter (18 m at the time) the recommended dose of Motrin then two hours later give her the recommended dose of Tylenol. I believe the Motrin is every 6 to 8 hours and the Tylenol is every 4-6. It worked. If it do not break at 2 dose go to the hospital.

As for taking the medicine, try putting it in her mouth and hold her nose. Use a dropper and put it far back in her mouth.
P.S. get as much liquids (water, juice, ect) as possible.

This is your child. Maybe I'm different, but if my baby had a 103 temperature, I would take her to the ER immediately. That is very dangerous. If you can't get her to take the medicine, the ER can do something for her, but you're going to have to get up off your butt and be a mom and take her. Instead of sitting on yahoo answers asking everyone what to do. We aren't doctors ourself.

She needs to take her medicine. If you have too, put it in a syringe and put is in her mouth and stroke her throat (makes her swallow by tricking the muscles) Another way is to put it in milk, very little milk so you know she took it.
I would switch back and forth from Morton to Tylenol every 3 hours (if in doubt call the pharmacy). I know it sound like your torturing her, but you really want to get the fever down.

Use a dropper and get the tylenol in her even if she is kicking and screaming. If the temp doesn't drop with the tylenol, off to ER (or better yet a children's hospital ER). If you are in the pacific time zone, you may have an urgent care facility open.

103 is dangerous.

a cool bath will soothe her. or go to the pharmacy and get a dropper to put it into the back of her throat and squeeze it in.

but 103 is high. you need her to take meds.

be a mom and just make her take it. we've all been there. they will fight and scream, but it's for her own good.

i used to pass a timid towel over my sons body. You have to take all his clothes off including diaper. just relax there with her and give her your love. Also it depends how long you put her in the tub. Don't use cool water use more like timid-warm. Just pass some water over her body for about 15 minutes. You also need to take her to the doc ASAP. Hope your baby gets better!
