I usually consider ages 10 through 12 as tweenagers. Teen years start at 13.

The definition of a tween is the age where a child is stuck in the middle of childhood and adolesence, starting at about age eight and going to about age twelve.

About 10-12 to me, an awful age for all of us. Here's a good link: http://www.parenting.org/tween/index.asp

9-12. A tween is a kid that isn't quite old enough to be a teenager yet.

They are between 9-12 years old. They are "preteens" the age right before they are teenagers. What a horrible age this is when their hormones begin to change and many "talk back"...

The few years before becoming a teenager. They consider themselves to not be "babies" anymore. They start asking for a later bedtime, they don't want "baby" toys, etc. This is also the time that they go through puberty. Their body is going through "grown-up" changes so they think they should be treated older.
