That really is your decision. It's a hard one but you do have to make it. Look at the pros and cons. On the one hand your 19 month old will have a sibling closer to his age and someone to relate to him. On the other he's still a toddler and does need time and affection which new babies do take alot of. Write a list of such things and talk them over with your hubby parenting is tough and both of you should really be on the same page.

It takes at least 18 months for a woman's body to recover from a pregnancy barring complications.
3 years difference is a good gap. One will be starting school about the time the 2nd one is walking and talking.
Keep in mind the expense of college. 18 months and 18 years may seem like a lifetime but it goes in the blink of an eye.

I'm an older lady with four grown children. After the first child I asked my OB/GYN the same question. His answer was at least 4 years. I was disappointed by his answer so I asked him why, he just said it takes 4 years for a child to get though college, so a child every 4 years or more was just right financially. My next child came 3 years after my first and I had 2 girls. Life was good. The I had a boy 4 years later and he was the love of our life for a while. When i gave birth to another boy within a week of my first son's birthday. i did find that paying for collage was definitely a problem when you have 2 boys that need to go within 2 years of each other, so I agree with my OB/GYN. 4 years seem about right!

They will all ready be farther apart than my 3 kids. Mine are all 2 years apart with July birthdays. 7,23, 16th. I liked having them close together, they always had play mates and didnt have to wait to long to get to do what the older one was doing.
My second daughter and youngest a son don't get along all that well but they have always had very different personalities. It is hard to judge what is the best. My best friends girls are 18 and 16 months.
Liz loves her little sister, but they are still basically only kids.

hummmmmmm I kind of liked the eight years between my two boys.....lol
My brother and I are four years apart.....not great for being close.
My two youngest children are 14 months apart and inseparable although exhausting in some ways like having twins.....I would say for every ones sanity that any time now is good. But ultimately you know your family and your son and how that may impact both positively and negatively on your family.
Best of luck!

My two sons are approximately two years apart. My two grandsons are about three years apart. The first two, never got along too well the second two get along very well, so far. Although I really think that parenting and the environment will enter into it as well.

Studies have shown that waiting 2-3 years between pregnancy allows the mothers body to fully recoup.

the closer the better i have 3 kids and my oldest is 8 and she really has nothing to do with my 3yr old or my 1year old but the 2 younger ones seem to play just fine and my 3 yr old likes to teach the baby how to do things so i think the closer the easier

I loved having mine 4 years apart. There was no jelousy, there were lots of hand me downs, and the bigger child was out of the crib so the crib was available for the baby.
