My daughters can't get their ears peirced until they are 12, can't wear make-up until they are 14, can't date until they are 16. I monitor their e-mail traffic and phone calls have to be 15 minutes or less. We don't have cable or sattelite T.V. and we preview our DVD selections before the kids can watch them.

Other parents critisize us and call us over-bearing and snobs. Am I really doing anything wrong?

I have a friend looking for a day care facility for her child. She works later into the evening sometimes (9pm at the latest) and is looking for a facility open later than the average 5-6pm. Does anyone know of places like this, regardless of location?

She is 15 years old. She is a virgin. I am kinda thinking I should take her now. What do you think? They say the recomended age to first take your daughter is 13-15, but 13 seems too soon. (that is what medical websites have said)
I also have a 13 year old daughter. I am wondering if I should take her too. I think it seems too early for the 13 year old.

What do y'all think?

It really took me by surprise yesterday when my 3 and a half year old daughter, started talking to me about death.
She said, Mommy wnen you die, and I die, and Desi (my baby) dies then daddy and Justin and Chris (my sons) wont see us right??? I really diddnt know what to say, I looked at her and said, no sweetie but I hope that doesnt happen for a very very long time. I diddnt know what to say. Do most 3 year olds know what dieing is??? Im not even sure how she heard this, but it really makes me feel uneasy.

How long does the caffeine from chocloate more specifically stay in your breastmilk?
I'm not sure if all caffeine is the same or not , but how long should wait feed my son after eating a couple pieces of chocloate? He is kind of a sensative baby when it comes to what I eat ( has gas if I eat vegetables). I just don't want to upset him or his stomach. I just need to know if anyone knows the time I should wait or if I need to pump and dump after eating chocloate? Thank you

Many parents allow their children to go out and party, get high, yell at them, throw things, and act disrespectful. Many parents in return are very timid and buy them things to get them happy. When is it okay for a child to run the house in which you pay rent or mortgage for?

No jokes please. The school says he does. I don't belive it. He is a normal intelligent 12 yr old kid. He enjoys "kings list" math games. He is the oldest of 4. His parents are thinking of stopping his 'calm down ' medication. which I don't think he ever needed in the 1st place. I am not his parent and do not even try to be. When they are out at my place, I try to make it like a mini wacation. I have never had to get on to them for anything. They just seem to know what I expect of them. And I am not a loud demanding person. But, if it works, don't fix it.
I guess I'm getting away from the botton line. Donald gets good grades except in math. IS THERE SUCH A THING AS SHORT TERM MEMORY IN JUST MATH? I intend to let him read your answers himself. It had an impact on Gson #1 when he read my ? and your answers when he got caught stealing at school. Please excuse my wording. I'm not very good with words. But I know my kids and Grandkids.

My father in law passed away a year ago today. Our son, who is 3 1/2 remembers him and knows that he has "gone to live with God." But since this isn't really something we are 'celebrating' but rather 'commemerating' we're not sure whether bringing up that today is the specific day is a good idea.

My thoughts on telling him are that it might be nice for us to all share special memories. And it might help him understand why his dad and I are sad today.

We live 500 miles away from where he is buried, so we won't be visiting the gravesite.

Should we tell him? Please no rude answers, today is hard enough as it is.

The child takes medication and visits the doctor every six months. He can feed and dress himself, ride the bus to and from school, play video games, watch tv, play with the neighborhood children, and ride his bike.

This child's dad applied for leave under FMLA in order to take care of his son. Two weeks after taking the leave, he was informed by his emplioyer it was not considered to be covered under the FMLA. At the end of summer the dad inquired about his job and he was told it was filled and no other jobs were available with the company.

The dad is in the process of trying to sue the company. He claims the FMLA was violated because he was not permitted to return to his job.

Do you feel this violated FMLA laws? In my opinion, I feel the dad just wanted to take the summer off. The child seems quite capable and not in need of extensive help from the dad.

I know a 14 year old girl who is in the hospital because her parents abuse her. Right now I'm like her "mother" I try to keep her calm and relaxed (I'm in my late 40's). She has recently told the hospital about what her parents do to her. Since then she has been very afraid. She gets really bad, scary dreams and can't sleep. She is also afraid that her parents are going to "get her" while she is sleeping. I keep on telling her that she is safe and that I'm right here. I can usally get her to calm down and stop crying but when I get to the part that I'm putting her to sleep she starts crying again and she can't sleep. When she does sleep she always wakes up with a fever and she is cryign again. But she really needs to sleep. I don't know what to do anymore. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to sleep and keep her calm while she sleeps? Any bed time routine that I could do for her so that she is calm? So far I tryed telling her a story and it sorta worked. Any other suggestion

my ten year old daughter still craps in her pants. her main reason is that "sitting on the toilet is boring" she's a smart kid and i've tried the rewards and the yelling and the making her clean it up (that last was her pediatricians suggestion) and had her checked medically, she had a blockage removed at age 5. its just really frustrating.

I am 32 and have a lovely 9 year old son who I think the world of but sometimes I really struggle being a parent and the responsibility that comes with it. When I look around all I see is people who adore the role and want more kids! I wouldn't change a thing but my son was unplanned and I had him at 23. I'm no longer with the father after he walked out on us but live with my new partner who helps us both a lot. I know I should be really grateful and at times I love it but a lot of the time I seem to resent how much hard work it is and how much of my young years it has taken up. Perhaps I'd feel differently had it been planned and I was still with the father. I desperately want to be a good parent but feel sometimes I am just no good at it as I don't have enough patience! Perhaps this is common but I do feel some people are more natural raising children than others. I do my best to take him out and spend time with him and encourage him with school and hobbies anyone else relate to this

he presses the envelope and is very disrespectful towards me. The more trouble he gets into the less respect he shows toward me. His father was very verbally abusive when we were married and is now teaching our son to be like this. I am at my wits end. How can I instill respect in him without turning him against me? We used to be very close and have drifted some becuase of the damage his dad is causing.
