my ten year old daughter still craps in her pants. her main reason is that "sitting on the toilet is boring" she's a smart kid and i've tried the rewards and the yelling and the making her clean it up (that last was her pediatricians suggestion) and had her checked medically, she had a blockage removed at age 5. its just really frustrating.

thanks everyone. best answer goes to Krista t just for making me feel better; sometimes I am just absolutely positive that noone else goes through this, and to mindfullmom for furthering my explanation in a simple manner. in the question I mentioned a blockage she had to undergo minor surgery to remove because yes she did have problems with her sphincter because she didnot want to stop what she was dong and held it in.

for the rest of you thanks for taking the time to answer but i've known for yers that she's stubborn, she is not constipated in fact for a few days in a row she will go at roughly the same time each day, then suddenly it will switch. tried the diaper thing on several different occasions over the years and the kids at school do know(i think) she is apperently immune to embarrassment.

Pamela no books, done that til i realized that just like when playing, she would sit there holding it in so she could concentrate on her book.

Does she have regular movements? Or is she constipated? Some kids don't like to go if they're constipated. Try feeding her 2 servings of fruit every day and make sure she drinks a couple of glasses of water. Then she won't have to "sit" She'll just go in, do her business, and get out.

Sometimes a child can actually have an aversion to going to the bathroom when they have had a painful BM. Then they hold it for long periods of time. If the sphincter is expanded too far they can loose the ability to feel the need to go. Talk to your ped. there are medications that can be prescribed to soften the stools. Then you just need to make sure that she goes like twice a day. Eventually things will go back to there normal size and she will once again feel the urge to go.

I have an 11 year old (he is autistic) who still craps his pants - he absolutely hates sitting on the toilet. I gave up the battle for now and he wears depends undergarments. If you put diapers on her, it may humiliate her enough to start using the toilet.

If a ten year old craps in her pants, that is not normal. Does she have pain? Does she get constipated? If physically she really is normal, your family needs therapy help. Fix this before the kids at school find it! She would be teased forever!

When I was about 10, I still peed the bed. My mom got tired of it and put a cloth diaper on me, which I had to wear around that day. It humiliated me enough I stopped.

try threatening her with telling her friends she still poops her pants.
