you are entitled to being a mother and working hard to raise a lovely young man. Other benefits that you would like to receive would be determined by the social services office after you contact them, keep in mind that you are NOT entitled to them. They are there as a way to help people who genuinely need them, and there are those out there that do. Feeling as though you are entitled to receive ANY assistance leads me to believe that are are one of those that doesn't genuinely need them.
EDIT: I love jasons answer

What do you mean by benefits? You mean like welfare? I don't want to be rude, but if that is what you are talking about why in the world would you have a child. Welfare is not the way you want to live. And its not fair to a child to have to only get the absolute essentials. Just go and get a job, and provide everything yourself instead of making the tax payers provide what you need for you and your child.

I didn't assume I was entitled to anything when I had children except the new mother's parking and the new title of MOMMY! I did get lower car insurance though :-)
Just becoming a mother is benefit enough.
So what exactly are you talking about as far as benefits??

Ignore the rude answers. When I had my child I had to go on subsidized housing until i got my feet on the ground. It was temporary. I am sure you didn't have your child so could you live off the government. I am not sure where you are from, but check with the government offices. Don't feel bad if you need assistance till you get your feet on the ground. If you need help for awhile, don't let people guilt you. I know a family that lived off of welfare their whole lives, with 4 adults in the house... that is what these people can critisize, not people who are just getting settled into a new situation. Enjoy your baby and look into it. Not sure where you live, but you may find something in your area.

You are entitled to the love and respect of your child IF and only IF you deserve it. How DO GET TO DESERVE IT? BYGETTING A JOB AND WORKING HARD TO MAKE A LIFE FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD. i TOO AM A SINGLE MOM AND HAVE NEVER IN 10 YEAR OF MY DAUGHTERS LIFE TAKEN FROM ANYONE. I HAVE BEEN STEADILY EMPLOYED, SOMETIMES WITH 2 JOBS TO MAKE ENDS MEET. MY DAUGHTER LOOKS UP TO ME AND SAYS SHE WANTS TO BE LIKE ME WHEN SHE GROWS UP. THAT DOES NOT MEAN ANOTHER WELFARE CASE. SHE HAS NEVER EVEN HEARD OF WELFARE! PULL YOURSELF UP AND GET MOVING GIRL. NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING. NO ONE ELSE OTHER THAN YOU AND THE FATHER HAD THE FUN CREATING THE CHILD NO ONE ELSE SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR RAISING HIM!
