My daughter just turned 3 a month ago. For the last few weeks she has been a monster. Throwing tantrums, laying on the floor screaming, demanding whatever it is she wants, being rude, hitting, kicking, etc. You name it she is doing it. Today we were at an indoor playground and she wanted pizza "right now". I explained to her that couldn't happen right then. This wasn't okay with her. She began screaming (just an annoying scream she's been doing, not screaming any words) and refusing to get off the floor. Normally I would send her to her room or do a time out or ignore her. But in public with a 2 month old in the carseat, how am I supposed to do that?? I'm short so hauling around a carseat is hard enough, and there is no way I'd be able to do that AND grab a 3 year old throwing a fit. What do you parents do when one child needs disciplined in public? I finally smacked her on the hand when she hit and kicked me and of course got "the look" from other parents nearby... so what do I do?

My daughter will be born in September. If I file for child support at the office when I'm released from the hospital 3 days later, how long does it typically take for child support to kick in?The father lives in a different state...Also, how do you take a newborn to the doctor, etc. , when you're waiting on child support and insurance?

I have a question. My children watch disney movies and cartoons at limited times. My friend argues with me that some cartoons and some disney movies are teaching them bad morals. Here is an example, My little girl loves Alice in Wonderland. She says that I shouldn't let her watch it because everything in the movie is about drugs in a hidden way. I say it's the parents making too big of a deal of what they see in a movie. The children don't know the relation at all, even if there is one. what do you think?

Everyone that I know got a good old fashioned behind whoopin when they were growing up. They are not violent criminals, they are not dreds of society. They are productive law abiding citizens. I wasn't whooped that often as a child, only once or twice, but when I did get it I knew that my parents meant business.
These parents that say that whoppin is wrong are severely misinformed. I bet you are the same parents who's kids are out in public running wild, very disrespectful that will eventually grow up to become criminals because you didn't stop problems right when they started.
I am not saying abuse your children. I am not saying to whoop your child for every little thing that they do. No way not at all. Only give them a good behind whoopin when they really deserve it. Talk to them first. Whoop behinds only as a last resort. If more parents did this, the world would not be as messed up as it is today.

P for parent. Who cares if the moms are the majority of them. Then again Im not so sure about the "stay" term now that I think about it. Dont like the "work" term either though. There must be something better.

They're basically letting someone else raise their kids. I just think that if you don't have the time to raise your own kids, you shouldn't have any. If someone is so focused on their work, how can they be good parents when they're never even around? I've nannied for several families who worked more than they were at home and it truely is very confusing for the children. So why do some parents do this?

When I was a child, I was not allowed to speak to adults any kind of way. I was taught to have respect for my elders. I am not that old only 31, but it seems that the world has changed so drastically since when I was coming up during the 1980's.
I look at the kids now and I am amazed at how rude and disrespectful they are. They are mean and nasty towards their parents and it seems like parents just accept this kind of behavior.
Is their no such thing as discipline and respect anymore? Why have parents gotten away from the basics needed in raising good God fearing children.
In my opinion the world is so messed up now because of the lack of morals and discipline parents do not demand from their children. I am yet to become a mother, but if I did have children they wouldn't get away with disrespecting me. Why do you think parents are so lax now a days??
Please give all opinions on this subject matter!

Am I the only person who has a overly active child (also very strong willed but I love her just the same lol) that is soooo sick of hearing the "perfect parent" with the "perfectly quiet, calm, easy going child" criticize your parenting. Dont get me wrong I HAVE rules, consequences, etc in my home. I wanted to just smack my new neighbor when she came over yesterday with her daughter (very quiet passive child) . The kids (ages 4 & 5) were playing nicely so we walked away for 2 MINUTES to show her something in another room. When we came back my daughter had climbed on the counter and was stand there getting snacks from a top shelf. I immediatly got her down told her it was very dangerous and she could have fell and made her sit in timeout for a few minutes. EVEN SO I still heard "My daughter would never even hink of doing something like that, etc" from the neighbor. Along with a lot of "You need to do" Am I the only one who HATES people that tell you what your doing wronge

He's a really nice kid, doesn't seem to have any social or behavioral disorders. He's my 6 yo son's best friend also, but he always wants to have my daughter involved with any games they play. He's never alone with her either, the kids all play together.

Am I being paranoid?

Hi..My twin son is nine and has severe autism, he also cannot speak and in nappies. when i am out with him and he is having one of his moments like screaming and throwing himself on the floor, how would you feel if people were tutting at you and telling you that he needed controling better, just want some opinions, as i have come to the conclusion that i should'nt have to explain to anyone, but if they wanted to know what was wrong instead of being so judgemental i would tell them .

I have a couple of friends that are constantly comparing/calling their children retarded. They say things like get your fingers out of your mouth you look like a retarded child, your are related to your retarded mother, are you retarded, and the most confusing for me you are not retarded. I have talked to them about this once and nothing changed? My question is am I wrong or would listening to this offend you?

Where does the problem exist are kids just out of control or are parents just asleep at the wheel and hoping the schools will raise their kids for them.

I just read that two 16yr olds put acid on a slide and a 2 year old boy now has second and third degree burns.

Where do monsters like this come from?

I went to make lunch, and they snuk ot side so i told them they would be going to bed early. They acted up all day.I put them to bed at 6:30 but they kept running down so after a warning i spanked my son. i do think it was unfir that only joe got a spankin but i did not feel comfortable giving his friend a spanking. When his mother came i told her and she said next time should spank her son as well.

I heard something about it one day...and that was it. Is it really being recalled? It is made by Listerine, it helps the kids to see if they are brushing good enough...like if they missed any spots.

Thanks for the help!

I am sorry if this is in the wrong section...I thought it might get the most response over here =) Thanks again.

My view of the world is probably a bit idealistic. I believe that with all the children on the planet that people should start adopting and not have children of their own. Or, perhaps, adopt a child for everyone they create. I myself am interested in adoption at some point in my life but now is not the right time. My relatives think that this is silly. My Sister said that it is terribly hard to adopt a child. She makes it sound almost impossible. Would some one who is in the know please tell me just how difficult it is and the hoops you have jump through to adopt a child...income and such? And areas where it is easier to adopt...or more difficult...laws and so on? I would greatly appreciate your help.

My son is 13 and has lived with his father for most of his life. His father has told him only ignorant people believe in God. I've invited him to come with me to church, and he's seemed interested but then decides not to go. We have a really wonderful youth program and since he just came to live with me he doesn't have a lot of friends. I know he'd have a great time if he just gave it a try, so should I force him to go once or twice or just let him continue to believe church is boring?
