your friend is a dumb a@@. let the kid watch her movie. unless they are exposed to drugs and drug use at an early age they are not going to think that. i could see if she was watching rated r movies but she isnt. tell your friend she is an idoit. just like when eveyone said that one of the teletubbies was gay cause they carried a purse, well hello, she was a girl. and just like they said that spongebob was gay, whatever, they are children cartoons and should be left alone.

My kids watch Disney and Nick, and for the most part, I have no problem w/the content. Kids see movies on an entirely different level than adults.
My real problem with TV is that it is addictive. It's like eating potato chips. My kids have a hard time just watching one show. If they have started watching, it's really hard to get them to stop. When they do stop, they are just plain crabby. There are days when I tell them that we won't be watching TV at all that day. Some days they complain, but most days, they end up playing together, going outside, playing w/neighbor kids outside, making up plays, etc. Much healthier play. When they watch TV they forget how to entertain themselves. That's my biggest concern.

Thats silly.
The only thing I worry about other than too much TV is violence, language, and and scary things on the kid TV. Like there seems to be a lot of fighting and guns and such and that bothers me.
Many Disney movies are just fine though...provided they have a G or PG rating.
Watch it with them to answer any questions and to talk about the story line. It'll help devlop the brain power to think and ponder whats on instead of just zoning.

I think people like to view things and make up stories about what they seen. Ive seen alice in wonderland and I think shes making up put of the story. Theres nothing like that in the story. Shes not raising your children you are.Disney movies and cartoons are a normal part of childhood.

I think too many parents are paranoid. How many of us watched all those Disney movies when we were little? Probably most of us (i know I did. They were my favorites!). Now, have you ever heard of anyone who is screwed up or has bad morals because they watched them? I haven't.
It is our job as parents to instill our values and good morals on our children. They will learn these things from us, not television.

No, they dont know the Alice in Wonderland drug thing. My only concern is some of the Disney women/princess stereotypes, but it seems they're starting to take care of that.

Kids do not see any of the hidden messages your friend is talking about. They are very adept at taking things at face value. It takes a very advanced level of thought to assign underlying messages to books and movies. This won't come for along time, and when it does come a more open environment will allow for conversation about what is and is not acceptable in your family.

Sometimes they do put hidden things in cartoons made for children, but the children wont know that. to them its just A caterpillar sitting on a mushroom, acting quite rude. I really think that they do this for the entertainment of the adults, to make them more interesting for us to watch. then more parents will sit with their children and watch.

I think anyone with a twisted mind can twist anything. If you think the shows are ok, and you aren't pointing out to your kids, "look, when Alice does that, some people think it symbolizes taking drugs." they aren't going to get that from the movie. If she doesn't want her children to watch that stuff, that's great and it's her choice, but what your kids watch is up to you.
