I find that if parents have 3children, the child in the middle is almost all the time the most difficult to control.

A close friend of mine gave a child up for adoption almost 40 years ago. She had no choice in the matter and has always loved him and thought about him. However, with his best interests in mind, she has never searched for him. Now that he is certainly an adult, and she is getting older, she would very much like to locate him. She never had any other children. She has only the most basic information: date-of-birth, place, etc. Adoptions were very secretive when he was placed. Has anyone else done this? How would you advise her to proceed? I am trying my best to assist her. At his age, her son can certainly make up his own mind as to whether he wants to know her.

FOr example, Frederic Chopin, the classical pianist, had a Polish mother and French father. His sentiments and his musical style were much more "Polish" in flavor than French. He composed Mazurkas, Polonaises, and waltzes much more than anything else. Did this have to do with his mother's influence? I think Jewish people say 'if your mother is Jewish, you're Jewish too', regardless of the father.

In your opinion, do you believe that a woman who is single and not married should be allowed to have a child? Why or why not?

I personally believe that you should be married before you have children because being a single mother in the United States is tough and children need to have a father figure in their life in order to guide them to understanding the challenges of life in the 21st Century.

My son's first birthday is coming up and I got him a cabbage patch doll because it looks just like him, and he loves to carry around a curious george doll that he has, so I think he'll like it. My husband, however, strongly objects to the idea of our little boy having a doll. Is it ok, or is it too girly?

I just finished "Getting it Right with Children". It is a good book but it did not address all my concerns. Any recommendations?
Specifically, I am interested in effective discipline.

Or as parents now are you making your kids read? I remember having to complete the summer reading list from the library in order to go out and play. A book a week at least but then I got to play as much as I wanted to. I think it helped my vocabulary out immensely as I went on in school and I love to read now but it doesn't seem like kids are reading that much anymore. What do you think?

As a teen myself, I think parents are not checking with the self esteem issues. It is easier to reject sex when you feel secure with yourself. Because then you will know that you are making the right decision because you are confident in yourself.

That's what I think. And when you answer make sure to state whether you are a parent, or a teacher, or a counselor, some random dude, or a teen like me. Or whatever you are.

Ok I took my 1 month old to WalMart Saturday for pics, and she turned a month old that day. The pics were so cute, and she had the cutest pose and expression for a baby to do. So anyways I got a call today from them saying the film wasnt in right so the pics wont print right and they look like x ray pics. I am sooooooo upset. I have the paper showing my order and the pics on it. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way they can get the pics still. Maybe if they are still in the computer system. I really want them

I'm 30 and work in FBI. 3 years ago after getting a band in prison there was a girl with them,L.,12 years old.She didn't have parents. One agent,a friend of mine took L. with her at home. They still live together. The thing was that L. knows a lot of things for many criminals and helps us a lot.She gives us information we can't find anywhere. She almost 'works' with us(of course we don't MAKE her,we just LET her,she is really responsible and mature girl, now 15 years old).I'm worried that she doesn't live like other teenagers.L is very kind and sociable girl and she goes to school but I'm afraid the work in FBI is too much for her,but up to now she seems to do it all with pleasure. And we really need her help.Is there a way I could help her feel like other teenagers?L also looks a lot after my 3-year-old daughter(I'm a widower) and she does it because she wants to.She is like a real adult like us.How can I hep her live like other 15-year-old teens?

I always planned on breastfeeding my daughter for at least a year. Now she is 13 months and is quite happy to continue nursing. I feel no urge to stop, but I wonder when I should? I do worry about what other people think but I don't want that to be the reason I wean my daughter.
How did you decide when to wean your son/daughter? My daughter has shown no signs of self weaning at all. She has responded well to me slowly easing her out of her start of the day nursing. She is down to naps and bedtime nursing (3x a day total).
I want to make the decision for the right reasons, not becuase others think it is wierd or wrong to nurse a 13 month old.

Also, if you did breastfeed to an older age how did you respond to rude comments like "Are you STILL nursing?"

Note: my daughter does drink water and milk from a sippy cup . She also eats three meals and snacks in solids, very healthy foods, usually what her father and I are eating. Breastmilk is not her only source of food.

Is there anyway you can adopt w/o being married cuz me and my boyfriend have been together for 15 years and have one daughter who is 13 and she tends to get bored and she want a younger sibling to entertain but every where we look adoption is like 30,000$ or you have to be married.. Is there any where where we can adopt that we dont have to be married and we dont have to pay thousands of dollars or is that gonna be something that isn't gonna happen?
