naughty mat for teenagers?

My teenager decided to whine and talk back to me like a babies. SO I treat her like a baby by using the naughty mat and if she doesn't stay there she gets a spanking.

i dont spank alot just when they need it.

i think of the thought is large, and that i will vouch that the naughty step works - yet why purchase a mat incredibly for this purpose? Use a step, or a chair, or perhaps purely an area like the 'naughty corner'? A 'naughty mat' is yet another case of a producer attempting to bleed us dry unnecessarily. Given the full credit crunch ingredient incredibly, it incredibly is a waste of money.

You're actually spanking your teenage daughter? You can't be serious. It sounds to me like you're on a major power trip. She is transitioning into adulthood. What message are you sending her? If she gets into an abusive relationship she may think that it's normal to get smacked around by her boyfriend. If the only things your daughter is doing is whining and talking back, then you should count your blessings. These are normal behaviors. Your reaction to them, however, is not.

That is a great idea! I have tried everything else! We have taken away so much that we don't have anything else to bargain with and she has learned to live without it! When she lived with her father he made her do exercise, hard stuff. But that hurt her and I just can't watch her be in pain and it still didn't work anyway.
I am alittle afraid to spank her but I did tell her that if she called the police on me that I would some day get out of jail and the next time I go in there will be a reason.

A time out may be just what she needs!

I think you have a good heart and are at your wits end, am i correct? I understand your reasoning and I see where you are coming from, but i don't think it will work... As was said above.. Spanking, especially an older child or teen, can leed to Child protective services... I don't think you want that. I think that she needs to learn who is boss, YOU and that what you say goes, Taking things away, chores, ect... She's looking for boundries whether she knows it or not... Not a friend... I hope that you both can work it out... GOOD LUCK:) have heart, soo she'll be calling you for advice on how to take care of her babies...

Why stoop to her level. Have you tried ignoring the behavior? Or tell her it is unacceptable behavior and it will not be used in your house. Send her to her room until she can speak to you appropriately.
NOTE: Use caution when spanking a teenager, or any child for that matter. If this information were to get to social services, your household could be under investigation!

never heard of a naughty mat....but im a teen and a TRUE punishment is not allowing internet access or no myspace login or no phone 4 a day or so...not a spanking.....teens could care less about getting a spanking it wont exactly make a difference....

SHE'S more mature than you are! Hitting them in the butt dosen't do anythig but make them fear you and make them even more mad when there little. So I guess hurting them when there a teenager is going to do the same thing? My Mom spanked me, and untill I relised it was just fear, I hid in the closet all day thinking she was going to kill me.

i must be awfully dense, but what is a naughty mat? as for spanking, usually by the time young ladies reach their teen years, spanking becomes more a sort of foreplay than punishment, so i'd use it sparingly! (unless that's the whole idea...hmmm)
