For example my daughter is 5 and my son is 1. Yesterday, my daughter would not stop sniffing my son's diaper. In a moment of frustration I said "will you please quit sniffing your brother's butt."
I'm sorry if that seems gross but it is a true story.

Ok, Next door a Father lives with his 14 year old son. They do watch alot of movies. But this is my problem.

Yesterday, his dad and him were watching HOSTEL the movie which is rated R, and has many scences of brutal torture.

A couple days before that, they watched A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

That is also rated R> should I call parenting service for this?

A "Right to Life" organization in our community, in my opinion, has gone too far. This evening as people were getting off work and going to dinner, they lined themselves up along the sides of the road in our "restaurant" district and in front of grocery stores, holding human-sized pictures of bloody, dismembered infants. People coming in and out of each establishment (with their children) were forced to look at these horribly grotesque images. We're in a small town, and this road was THE main road through town... and you can't get from one end of town to the other without driving it. People couldn't avoid it.

As a parent, I feel this is taking "freedom of expression" too far. How would you even explain these graphic images to your child?

What do you think? Is this taking it too far? And as a parent, what would you do?

I really want an open relationship with my kids. I want them to feel like they can talk to me about anything. I try to engage my son in conversations about his day, friends, etc. He never wants to talk. He responds with things like "I dont' know" "I dont' want to talk right now" etc. I'm not concerned that anything is wrong, I think it's more my approach. How do you engage kids in conversation so they are interested and want to participate? Thanks

He is seventeen and still in high school (he's a junior). He has a job, but it doesn't pay very well (he certainly couldn't support himself).

He has been getting into trouble, and we really don't know what to do with him anymore. He is lying, drinking, smoking, and sneaking out in the middle of the night to hang out with his friends (one time this was in a stolen vehicle), doing drugs, skipping school, breaking into and vandalizing people's houses, running from the police, and having sex. Any suggestions? We're at a loss. (No, I'm not making any of this up.)

She's 15 years old, and I live in Michigan. I work in Lansing, and my daughter will be coming to live with me soon.. I don't have a 'significant other' that could be around her, but; while she is very trusting, I was once 15 and do not want her to be tempted to break rules.
I need a place for her to go, and I've run out of ideas... Help?

I don't know what to do. I was relying on my finacial aid through school to help me get through my pregnancy. I have 8 more weeks left and I'm already on maternity leave from Whataburger. I really can't do much about another job, cuzz I got to school Mon-Thurs. I want to finish school, but I don't know what I'm going to do. The guy I'm with cares about me but doesn't have enough money to support me him, and a child that isn;t his. Help please.

My ex and I have moved on. We had two children. I made the monumental mistake of giving her full custody. I was ignorant of the law. I really thought this meant I paid child support, they live with her and I see them when I want to, like two days out of the week. Was I wrong!

The system is so completely screwed up. She has changed her number and will not even let me know where they live or what her number is. What can I do. I am not ready just yet for a complete custody change(how much does that cost?) But now she is telling my daughters that the new guy is they're Daddy and I am "Daddy Julian". What should I do?????

Ok, I have a 4 year old a 2 year old. Both of them have alloted times during they day that they watch cartoons. Just hearing that I have had several people look down on me and judge me for that, I'm assuming because they think they are being "raised" by the television. They couldn't be more wrong.

Back in the day we didn't have educational cartoons. We had Bugs Bunny and all of those, sheer violence and it was fun! Nowadays it's different. There are so many educational cartoons for our children. For example, my son is 4 and can speak more Spanish that I ever have been able to. He knows his numbers up to 30 and can recognize them all. He has a large vocabulary and does school work at a 1st grade level. My 2 year old also has a large vocabulary, knows her colors, all of her body parts, can count to 30 and is already learning to recognize her ABC's.

I work with them every chance I get, I teach them about everything they see. So tell me...what is so bad about cartoons?

I work with a lady who just had twins which made kid #7 and #8. Unfortunately, she lost 1 baby. She just keeps having more and more children. She is married, but she and her husband are not rich by any means. How do they afford these children and how do you say congratulations to someone who has that many kids? She says her birth control doesnt work and she just keeps on having these kids up into her 40s.

Putting aside issues of neglect, such as not feeding your kid, leaving them unsupervised, not providing clean clothes; or sexual, physical, or emotional abuse. Just because another parent doesn't do things the way that you would, do you think it is your right to tell them they are raising their kids wrong? There are many controversial subjects discused on here, many times people are seeking honest advice, other times they either want to know others opinions or they want people to back up their own beliefs. I see alot of parents being put down, insulted, told they are not a good parent and that they are raising their kids wrong, by people who don't happen to raise their kids that way. Honestly, if there is no "perfect parent", then what makes a parent think they are an expert, and that their way is the only right way. I just think that just because another parent doesn't do thinks your way, it doesn't mean you have the right to tell them they are raising their kids wrong? Comments?
