I have the same problem. I'm only 10weeks so I don't know whether I am having a boy or girl, but when I mentioned that I liked the name Jordan for my son or daughter, my fiancé said that because his 2nd cousin's daughter is named Jordan we can't use that name.

Me and my fiancé have been together for 7 years and I have never seen this little girl and have only heard about her 2 or 3 times. He says that they will say that we stole her name

I have decided that if I like that name, why not use it. As you say you have never seen the child, who really cares what other people say.

Good luck with your baby girl.

It is absolutely, 100% acceptable for you to name your baby kaitlyn ( i have a first cousin with the same name that I DO see-my parents just both loved the name and would not settle for anything else), however, if your husband does not like it-then instead of trying to convince him and force it on him (even if you think hes being irrational) you should try to compromise. Maybe kaitlyn could be the middle name. Its both of your future child and you need to validate his opinion and feelings as he does yours (assuming he does!). I believe that couples try to talk their partners out of their gut feelings too much-let the man have his opinion and be counted! (What if he tried to convince you to name your daughter a name that you didnt like simply because it was the name of a girl you didnt like in grade school?- talk about irrational... or maybe not?!?)

I think it would be OK to do. If he doesn't want it as a first name, can you talk him into using it for a middle name?

convince him that it would be a compliment to name your baby after his cousin.

My parents were going to name me Katherine, but my aunt & uncle had a baby first and named her Kathlene. I wanted to be Katherine. She was always called Kathy. I could of bee Kate or katie I really wish my parents would of stuck with their choice. I never lived near my cousin anyhow.

If you have your heart set on it.....go for it.

it is okay to name your child what you want but both you and your husband have to agree on the name. Good luck

maybe you could name her kaylin instead or maybe change the way it's spelt like caitlyn, or maybe you could use the name is a middle name instead of a first name, either way it's your decison. so be happy......
