I work with a lady who just had twins which made kid #7 and #8. Unfortunately, she lost 1 baby. She just keeps having more and more children. She is married, but she and her husband are not rich by any means. How do they afford these children and how do you say congratulations to someone who has that many kids? She says her birth control doesnt work and she just keeps on having these kids up into her 40s.

I think it would be very unrealistic to think she is feeding and clothing all of these kids without food stamps and welfare.
She has a medical card and the babies are being paid for by your and my tax dollars. Seems like birth control would be a better option.

I raised 2 kids alone. I went to colllege and graduated so I could afford to raise them without welfare money. I am on birth control because I realize my limits. I cannot afford to raise more kids and dont think it would be fair to bring more children into the world. My daughter is like having 10 kids alone.

I also worked with a lady about 5 yrs ago who had 8 children and thought her marriage was very secure until her husband left her. He was supposed to be counseling a person in their church and turned out he was having an affair. They are now divorced and she has all 8 kids alone.

I also forgot to add I am the youngest of 8 children. My dad made very good money and we did not live on welfare at all. My oldest sister was my true mother figure. There were too many of us.

Sorry to see you getting so much criticism. Everyone has the responsibility to stay out of people's business. But you also have the right to be concerned about your community and the people in it.
The fact is, even 2 minimum wage jobs won't pay enough to feed 7-8 kids mouths, so most likely she is on public assistance. Not the greatest circumstance, and usually its the KIDS who suffer from their paren'ts poor decisions.
You can help out by maybe picking one of the kids to help and be a mentor to. Your example could help the kid grow up and make better choices with their life.

I personally think it's unfair to the kids, but before judging perhaps she has a very supportive family. As long as the kids are happy I guess it really shouldn't matter. But having so many kids I don't see how she is able to spend adquete time with them because I am sure she is working all the time. A lot of women have the children for the extra goverment assistance which I am totally against. I think they should limit the time on assistance and have one set rate no matter how many children you have 1-10 you get the same amount. I knew this girl who had 6 kids and would profit at least $150-200.00 a month selling her food stamps. The goverment gave her something like $500 a month. Plus on top of that 2 kids didn't even live with her. I would congratulate your co worker because the birth of a child is a beautiful thing, but when she starts moaning and growning, I wouldn't have any time for sympathy.

I am a mother to 5, my husband is an electrical contractor, we are not on government aide but he has employees who are, there is a cap it's about 3 or 4 children, so they are not having children for the money, i would be willing to bet there is a lot of love in that house, i do not mind some of my money going to a family like this where both parents are working and doing there best, it's the ones who wont work or try that bother me, i find it hard to believe that a parent of 8 is lazy, not possible, i would not want anyone telling me how many children i should have how much money do you have to have? sounds like a very loving family, who don't need to be judged, so your attitude is you should be rich to have a large family

Do you have any idea the number of things that have to happen at precisely the right time for a woman to get pregnant? Especially with twins! Children are absolute miracles (even the accidents) It's hard to understand if you haven't been there and if you live in a world controlled by all the things around you that want. Some people, however, just don't care, just don't need money and "things" to make them happy. Maybe they need kids or love.
Try to consider that this woman after every positive pregnancy test is as happy as you are after every pair of new shoes or jeans or a new purse.

Why do you even care?
Won't the taxes be taken out of your check if she has no children or twenty six children?
Have you ever thought that maybe she doesn't mind having that many children?
Have you ever thought that maybe her home isn't like most? I know my grandmother-in-law never had a dime of assistance but lived in a house that used a wood-burning stove and water from a well. She lived this way up until a few years ago when she finally got electricity for her home. She had eleven children.
Perhaps you should spend more of your time in pregnancy help clinics to prevent these things from happening then sitting on the computer gossiping about some poor lady.
EDIT---
LOL. You said you 'worked with a lady' in a minimum wage job then said you had a degree. Then why the heck are YOU at the minimum wage job? Something just isn't right. I really dislike people like you that have TOO much time on their hands!

Are her kids happy? Is her marriage good? Do they make loving parents and enjoy being parents? She and her husband work dont they, they don't sit on their butts doing drugs and drinking away their lives. Why do you have to be rich to have kids? I know a lot of crappy rich parentswho beat and abuse their children and some of the best parents I know don't make a lot of money. We have three boys and I am pregnant with twins, my husband is in the army, our income is 32,000 a year, I don't work, but I can guarantee you that my children are some of the happiest around, and my husband and I are thrilled to have our kids. We love our life. What gives you the right to judge someone off of the ammount of money they make, how about you judge if they should be parents or not by how they treat their children.

Maybe you are kind off jealous of them maybe deep in you would love to have as many children but are afraid of something like people judging you of how you live. See what you do and then criticize others. I am sure you don't have children but have a lot of debt. Think about it. I have four children and one angel baby loss to death in womb. I would love to have another and probably will. I have heard these comment and that doesn't change my mind and we mothers of many have the job to procreate since many like you don't even want to have one. I am not living on welfare eventhough we qualify for it but I will reserve that for when really in need.

I think anyone who wants more than 2 kids has been smoking crack-regardless of how much money they are making.
Its not fair to the kids. There is no way that anyone can give 7 kids the same amount of attention and care as if they only had 1 or 2. And im not just talking about the money issue-im talking about the physical and emotional care that a child needs.
