Why do parents think there child is more important than any other child?

why are parents obnoxious when it comes to their children?

in reality all children are of the same importance. your children are just more important to you. yes some parents do go over board and it drives me nuts.

When you become a parent, your child is the most important thing in the world to you and you want what's best for them in every situation. So of course a parent would put their own child above another child.
Didn't your parents (or whoever raised you) do the same for you? If they didn't it should make you even more aware of how important it is to a child's well being.

Seems like a broad assumption, I think it is only natural that parents believe their children are the exception to every rule. Most of it is just being proud parents. Children, I have learned are a very precious gift and the responsibility to care for them physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, is awesome. Anyone who desires to be a parent is taking on a very important role. These are children that will be "little yous" and "YOU" have to ensure that what you put into them is good and righteous, warm and loving, and the results can be astronomical when they grow up and become mature, nurtured and loving young people who will contribute to the world in a positive way. I am a parent and I am very proud of the accomplishments my one child has offered so far. She has been the delight of my heart, has brought me no anxieties or hurts in all of her 21 years. All I can do is be thankful to God.

Tell me you don't (or wouldn't) do the same. Every parent is partial to their child and for good reason, it's THEIR child. I don't put my child's wants above other kids' needs (if another child was in need and my son was just whining for attention, the other kid gets my attention), but if my son is in the ER with a broken bone and another woman coming in with her child having the sniffles, yeah I'm gonna say my kid's more important at the moment. It's not being obnoxious, it's caring for your child. You obviously don't have kids of your own or if you do boy do I feel bad fro them.

It makes the parents feel important. Too many parents live vicariously through their kids and feel that their children's accomplishments are reflections of their parenting.

Also some think their children are perfect angels and just because they went through a "long and horrible" birth they are more special then other children. Every child is a gift from God.

The reason that parents think their child(ren) are more important than any child(ren) is because they are. This is not saying that other children are not important, because those other children are more important than other children to their parents.

Because we love our children and they are more important to us than anyone elses child is because we carried this child for nine months and love them. If you don't then you have a serious problem and if you don't understand why... then you better not have children...

My son is important to me and my hubby because we had him.I didn't have anybody else child.Other people child in important but not to me not as much.I think the kids in my family (like sister and brother children are important.)But my son is more important cuz i went throw the labor for him.

Parents think that their children are the best because to them they are perfect and they are the best. It is because parents love their children. I know I can be annoying about it but I try very hard to think about others when I talk about my kids. It is just very hard to not brag about them.

Why wouldn't any parent be? Other than God, my son is more important than ANYONE else in my life, my parents, his dad, etc. My son comes next to God.
