My mother decided to invite all of her friends over to admire this antique chair she bought at an auction for $10,000.00 She had saved for this for a while- the chair was a wooden artifact from Greece I think- had history to it. Anyways she told me not to sit in the chair because of my weight problem- Im 300 lbs- But I took offense to her saying that to me. She told me not to sit in the chair because it was an artifact and not something she wanted to be used for furniture UNLESS the person was the right weight- which made me angry because 2 of the guests coming were given permission to sit in the chair when they got there. So before the guests came I decided to prove to my mother that I wasn't too fat to sit in the chair- and I sat in it, and it broke! Like I fell over and hurt myself. My ,other screamed and wouldnt even ask if I was okay. When the guests came she had a broken chair and she accussed me of wasting her money- she wont speak to me and her friends all laughed. What do i do

Is it too soon to start explaining to them about sex, how the body works, pregnancy, things of that nature?
I just don't want them to be naive to what goes on around them at such a young age.

During the day I take care of my son and his cousin. My son is 11 months old and his cousin is 12 months. His cousin is starting to become rather a bully, which isn't as bad as it could be, my son does fight back. But now his cousin has taken to biting. I keep catching him biting my son really hard to the point where he leaves bruises and even once broke the skin. How do I discourage this behavior. He's still really young and I don't want either of them to grow up being mean to others like that.

I have struggled to find peace with this, but I cannot. I am offered a really nice carreer as a restaurant manager, but for the life of me, I can't understand why he wants me to do this? We don't need anything. We have a nice home, no debt, two decent vehicles (one is fully paid for), and our baby girl is very clingy and hates being left even for a moment with a stranger. To make things worse, we just moved to a new area, and I haven't even got a feel for the place yet, or seen any daycare place I feel comfortable leaving my child at!!! I'm due to report for training/work in October...

My husbands greed angers me, that he would want his only girl in someone elses charge unecessarily just for the love of money? And it's nothing more than that. I wanted to go back to work when she was about 3, old enough to talk and walk and understand why I left her for the day. I am very dissapointed, but have no idea how to talk to him about this without a dispute ensuing. Any advice? Tips?

I have a newer dishwasher and never have had problems with it until now. Everytime I want to put away my dishes my dishwasher still has soap in it. What is the problem? I wonder if the dishwasher is not opening during soap time or something.

I was told that I should not allow children to name the animals or pets or we would end up with something like a bunny named Apple (yes we did).

My husbands 2 daughters live with their mom. His son,my son, and our daughter live with us. The girls dont like to come over to our house. They dont like me telling them what to do, and our rules are different than at their moms, so they would rather just stay at her house. They are both spoiled rotten (much more than their brother who lives with us) and their mom and stepdad buy them stuff all the time. They do, however, want to come when it gets close to their birthdays or Christmas. I think that they take advantage of my husband and use him to get gifts, and if he isnt buying them stuff they dont want to see him. I dont feel that I should have to get them as much for Christmas as the kids who actually live with us. I know that as soon as Christmas is over they will just go back to trying to get out of coming over until their birthdays come back around. Can I just buy them a couple of gifts and be done with it? I say me, because my husband hates to shop and wants me to do it

I know it might sound a little weird that I have a bippy at this age, but I have high functioning autism, and I'm still sort of socially
and emotionally immature, in spite of having a BA degree in
Geography. And by "bippy" I mean pacifier. I have had a pacifier for the past 15 years...I had my baby bottle till I was 6 years old and I never forgot what the nipple tasted like. So when I was 15,
I got a pacifier because I thought it would be easier to hide than a bottle, but my mother still found it. She was sort of bewildered
when she first saw that I had a pacifier, but she's accepted it very well now. Problem is no matter how hard I try, I can't get rid of it!
I've tried twice and it doesn't seem to help anything. I try not to use in public, but I'll put it in my shirt pocket or something. It just makes me feel more secure, I guess. One lady I've known for
years, when I said "I can't get rid of my paci" she said of "course you can't, you're autistic." Will it hurt my teeth??

I just read in a women's magazine in the doctor's office that it is a taboo to love your husband more than your children.

Who agrees? Do you love your husband more than your children, or vice versa? I know you love them both, but what would be worse: being widowed, or losing one (or all) of your kids? Whose needs and priorities would you put first, if husband and children had opposing needs?

Would you be shocked by a woman who said she loved her husband more than her children?

Sorry, question is only open to mothers who have, or have had, a husband.

i already have a daughter and i am 37 weeks into the first pregnancy with my husband...he's been around since my first daughter was a year old but thats a lot different than being around a newborn. he's a USMC and shows it a lot in his parenting style and it aggravates my how hard he is on my 3yr old sometimes and when i say something to him he gets aggravated with me. Now with a new baby i'm afraid he is going to be even harder on her and he doesnt understand things like how fragile the baby is going to be at first. How do I approach him with this topic without seeming like i'm trying to overrun his parental status??

My three year old son is always hurting my 14 month old baby. Whenever he walks past him he will hit him or push him over, my baby only has to look at him and he runs at him screams in his face then either pinches, bites, hits or kicks him. I dont know what to do to get him to stop doing this. Please dont say for me to smack my child. I believe thats abuse and would never harm my kids in any way

I went back to work a month ago after staying home since my children were born (they're 1 1/2 and 2 1/2). When I get home, all hell breaks loose. My girls will dump things on the floor, fight, throw toys, and will NOT listen! It's driving me insane. I love my kids more than anything and they have always been great kids. Is there anything I can do to stop this behavior?

Okay... I am a mother of 3 children... I have reached a point where I feel like I need to give up. My kids run my house like a pig pen and I can't keep up. I love all my kids equally. I talked to their dad about taking one of them. I feel like I'd be doing our kids a favor but at the same time I feel like I would be possiably hurting the one child. I know I need help, want to leg go, but I am afraid of letting go. I am also afraid of the emotional well being of my middle daugher if I let her go. Any thoughts?
