I'm curious to know if parents who used the Baby Einstein videos with their infants think that it improved their intellect?

Why are parents so afraid to put their foots down with little Festus or Festina today? I see so many little kids out there spitting, smacking, screaming and acting like they are demon posessed wherever we go, it amazes me. Maybe I'm old school or something but even as kids if we thought to act a fool in public my parents would take us to the restroom and give us what we had coming to us. My dad used to say "If you want to embarrass me I can return the favor" and we knew if we didn't stop we'd get a whack on the behind in front of everyone. God forbid our actions made them leave the store or wherever we were, we knew we'd get it when we got home. I'm the same way myself today, I'm not afraid to correct my child if they are acting up no matter who is around. They're my kids and my responsibility. I'm responsible for them growing up and becoming decent citizens and not juvenile delinquents. Thoughts?

Jessica is my 6 year old daughter, who has a lot of angry feelings. She has been through severe neglect, by her father, foster care, returned to the same situation she was removed from, so I was forced to remove her from her fathers care. On top of that her brother was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. I feel that during her stay in foster care she was brushed aside, because of her brothers diagnoses. We are staying at a shelter for women and she seems to become angerier, and more resentfull everyday. She is begining therapy, and I do everything I can to help her but I am afraid that if I can't help her learn to deal with her anger soon she will rebell even more. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My son will be 3 in a week. Last monday my husband's parent's called from L.A. And told us that they wanted to take him to the Sacramento Zoo and to spend the night in Sacramento. And then come home the next day.

Now to make a long story short. My Mom-in-law left my son at 6 weeks old outside a store by himself in his stroller. And to this day she says she didn't do anything wrong. She disobeys anything I say & says she can do what she wants. And told me when we found out that we were pregnant with our 2nd child " Go and get an abortion" Because it wasn't planed. My sister in law has only seen him twice in his life. My father in law really doesn't care. The last time they saw him was 8 months ago in Jan. of this year.
He has never spent the night anywere with out us. And has only been babysat once when we went to a wedding in July and He couldn't come.
I think that he is way to young to be that far away ( Sacramento, CA is 3 hours away from Redding, CA) and to stay over

My husband and I are going to be starting the classes to become foster parents very soon. Just wondering if any of you out there are foster parents and have some advice or stories you would like to pass on to potential foster parents?

Mom's, what is the best advice (of any kind) you could offer other mothers that have children of any age?

Mine is for mom's with younger children. Make a new tradition that is just for you and your kids. One of my favorite ones is when my daughter was 2 1/2 a she understood that with birthdays comes a birthday cake. At Christmas realizing that it was Jesus's birthday, she asked for a birthday cake as a present for him. So now every year we buy a birthday cake that says Happy Birthday Jesus and we sing Happy Birthday.

When I had my five year old, i was just glued to him. To this day i call him my baby.
I recently had another baby five months ago, and when I was pregnant, I was worried about replacing him.
Now that the baby is here, that's exactly what happened without me meaning for it to happen. How do I get back what I had with my little guy? I don't feel as close to him now that there is a new one in the house. I have five kids total, and smiley as I like to call him is my only blonde haired blue eyed boy. So why was I so quick to replace him? I don't love him any less. please help.

the time?? how do you get them to go play and not hang on you? my bf's kid is always on us, mostly him and she is jealous and always saying it's my dad. she follows him around, sits on him,she puts her head in his lap which i think looks inapproiate. she is just so clingy and it's annoying. I love her but how do you get her to go do something without being rude? He does baby her & carry her around, it's really annoying, esspecially because he wants me to be strict with my kids & acts jealous if my kids want my attention. what do i do ? am i wrong?

I work for a dentist so I really try to make sure I am always on time for any of my kids dr's appointments, cause I know how annoying it is for a patient to be late and make the dr run behind. I have to take my daughter to a specialist at a hospital 2 hours away every three months. I always try to leave early but if there is a wreck or something on the freeway, you can't help running late. The last time I took her that is what happened and we were 15 minutes late. After I signed her in no one even spoke to me for another 25 minutes. They just left me in the waiting room. Finally the receptionist called me to the counter and said "The doctor may not be able to see her because her appt. was almost 45 mins ago." Well no kidding. They let me sit there, I guess to teach me a lesson, for 25 minutes. The doctor did see her, but does anyone else think that was just nuts? I cant complain to the dr cause he just works for the hosp. as an employee, it is not his office.
