hey my son is 3 years old i thought my son would be the last kid in the world to learn to go potty. well he was about 2years and 9 months when we finally got him to use the potty and a month later he started going poop in the potty as well. what we started to do is set him on the potty every hour on the hour and then he got so sick of it he just started to tell us every time he needed to go. well if you need anymore help send me a e-mail

Start putting him in big kid underwear so that when he does pee he will feel uncomfortable.

Yes this will probably get a little messy but in the long run it helps. My son was almost 4 before he got potty trained because he was not ready. They say that kids will let you know when they are ready.

Tell him that if he goes potty he will get a treat, or you could start a sticker chart. I did this with one of the kids that I was babysitting.

Keep asking him if he has to go pee, and if you feel that it's time for him to pee take him to the potty and have him sit there for alittle bit.

If your son is able to understand you well when you talk to him than you can try this method.
Get a timer..........like an egg timer.
Take your son out of diapers or pull-ups.
Make sure to put a mattress pad down for accidents as they will happen for a couple of nights.
Next put your son on the potty each hour for one day. Set the timer for however minutes he is old (for instance my son was 3 so we set the timer for 3 minutes) tell your son that he doesn't have to go, he only has to try to go.
He will probably fight you after the first 3 times as he will quickly figure out that this is a chore and not a game.
The first night I tried this I did wake my son up one time to try to go but after only the second day my son was already telling me that "he had to use the potty"
This method worked so unbelieveably well that I'm going to try it with my daughter when she is ready to be trained.
Only less than 48 hours and my son was diaper free.
You can set the timer for longer periods of time in between trying to use the potty but I wouldn't go anymore than 2 hours in between as you don't want to set him up for failure or change a lot of underwear and shorts.
I did go out and buy my son special big boy underwear too. He was excited about this as the underwear had "thomas the train" on them.

good luck, and whatever you do, don't despair.
he'll be trained eventually.

Ask a male friend of yours to let your son watch him take a leak. I potty trained a friend of mine's son that way. He watched me pee in the toilet, and then looked down at his port-a-potty. He then went in it. I didn't know he wasn't potty trained yet, and it never occurred to them to just let the man of the house show him what guys do.

My husband was married before and widowed and when he had to teach his son he taught him to sit on the toilet and potty. He taught him how to point his penis down into the bowl.
