I don't think you are to old to adopt an older child. Where I live the news features young people 8-17 yrs that come from badly broken homes, etc every Monday. Of course there is a lot of challenge there, but I would bet they are looking for good structure and morals, and know that they have a home to come back to everyday. You would be doing a great think for an older child. If that does not pan out check into a foster care program. There are too many children w/o families not to give it a shot. Do YOU think you're too old? If no. Go for it! Good luck, you may change someones life!!

I'm sorry to say this but yes you are.
I'm in the process of adopting as we speak and I have read that you can not be more than 40 years older than the person you're adopting, so you would have to adopt a 15 year old and I don't think you want to do that.

55 is not even close to being to old. My mother is going to be 60 next year and she is in such great shape. As long as you are healthy and have the financial needs for a child you are a perfect mother to be.
Have a great life. Congrats on being a good person. There are not that many out there.

Depends on how old a child you want to adopt.
IMHO - if you adopt an infant - you may be 70 when they get to HS. How would that feel for the child?
If you adopt a teenager - this may be a bit better.

I dont think you are too old, especially since you say your health is good. Its not like you have to adopt a baby. Maybe consider adopting a child maybe 10 or up. Good luck to you!

I would think that it's more important to ask what kind of life your going to give the child and what kind of plan would you have in place to care for the child if something were to happen to you. There are many older children who need homes as well, which would make your age less of an issue.

Feel free to adopt. I don't think there is an age limit on anyone who likes to adopt.

It is old, but if you do you need to stay healty, eat right, and create a support net to help out in raising the child. You should be fine. "It takes a village to raise a child"
