I'm not sure why in the world parents would allow their children online without their supervision. That is inviting danger into your home. It is a parent's job to protect and supervise their children, and that should be an automatic response generated from love. Parents who allow their children online without supervision are no different in my opinion from those that allow them to wander around outside or in a store alone. I think it's a shame that so many parents have children and then do not live up to parental duties. Why have them in the first place if they are not your number one priority?

As parents, we must have enough sense to control our kids' use of the internet. They are responsible only when they are taught to be. I don't have any kind of parental blocks on my computer; however, I do keep the computer in the living room...NOT in her bedroom. I am right beside her when she's on it, and I give her "some" freedom..I do constantly remind her what is allowable and what isn't, and so far, she's made good choices. I feel she can responsibly use the internet, but I do check often to see what she's doing. Mostly she's playing games on Yahooligans, which is fine. I'm not going to police her...and if she makes mistakes, there will be recourse. And she knows it. Fortunately, we have not come to that point...but when we do, she knows she will lose her priveledges. Being responsible adults is the key here. Kids will explore unless the opportunity doesn't arise. If there is no opportunity, they are not likely to misuse the computer/internet.

That is what I would like to know.. I hadnt a clue about much sex and a lot of its symbols referring to it.. I starting using the net when I was 14, I learned almost every sexual way, position, symbol, word, so on. Just within maybe a month, I believe in supervision of anyone under the age of 18 is highly nessacary!

Because parents today need their away time and use the internet as a babysitter. They don't really care if their 7 year old is talking to UncleBuckNaked54. All they care about is that they get to watch re-runs of Growing Pains and have quiet time with Kirk Cameron.

I don't even allow my children on the internet, they are seven and four, still young, but even my teenage nephews when I used to babysit them, I would be sitting right there with them, and then we got an internet filter to help out with it, it not only blocks the sites but it also has a log to show what sites were visited, and what the content was on the sites.

Look at all the evil done for money, yet we allow our kids to touch money. You can't equate the evil with the tool.

I totally agree with you. I would never let my kids go online without supervision...and I would NEVER let him have a computer in his room! EVER, no matter how much I trust him.

we???? it's called bad parenting, every one expects actors and the like to raise their child. just do what the other bad parents do. keep living your self centered life until your little tyke commits a crime or goes missing and then sue some one. i mean after all you live with the child it can't have anything to do with you being to lazy to monitor it right
