Well my girlfriend has a cold and the sniffles.

I want to make her some soup! Any special recipes anyone would like to share? All she wants in it is Chicken, Noodles, Broccoli, Carrots, and celerey.

How do I know when an avocado is ripe enough to smash and make into a spread? The one I have I got yesterday and is sort of soft but not extremly soft. Like you can press on it a little and make like a dent of sort.

my mom makes this potato salad, and it's my favorite... but she won't tell me the recipe. I've watched it being made, but had to leave while she was making it... I know these are the ingredients, but need to complete this recipe by figuring out the amount of salt needed, and the amount of vinegar...and there seems to be an ingredient missing but i could be wrong.

7-8 potatoes (boiled with skin on, peeled then chopped)
2 carrots shredded
4 celery sticks (of equal length to carrots)
½ large vidalia onion
1 green bell pepper
1 cup kraft mayo (maybe a little extra)

vinegar - need amount
Salt - need amount
Missing ingredient?

We have so many blackberries in the garden this year so I was thinking of having them in it.
What (apart from traditional apple) goes well with blackberries?

I had thaught of blackberry and pear, anyone tried this?

I am making a beef cobbler - I stewed the beef in a pint of guiness for 3 hours (kids won't eat chewy meat, so it melts in ur mouth this way) I have then made (well I am in the process of making) homemade scones for the top, I am also having sweetheart cabbage, carrots and babycorn, all served with rich gravy (leftover stock from the meat earlier!)

What are you all planning on having?

I like mine medium to rare, in fact so rare that a good vet could bring it back to life!!

I don't understand people who cremate their steaks, its ruins them! Takes all the flavour and juices out of it in my opinion. But i guess each to their own!

How do you like yours cooked?

My salad is basically a Waldorf salad, except I use thinly sliced fennel instead of celery. (The other ingredients are diced apples, dipped in salt water, and brown-sugar glazed walnuts.) I used mayonnaise as the dressing, and it kind of drowned out the fennel flavor. What kind of dressing can I use to help bring out the fennel? (I'd still prefer a creamy dressing, but am willing to consider anything.)

Or does it matter if it's straight from the freezer to the george forman. I've been defrosting it in the defrost setting on my microwave and taking it out 1/2 to 3/4 defrosted then putting it to cook/george forman. I'm wondering if it will taste different or better any which way.
