I'm going to a fish fry this weekend and want to take a dessert. I can't decide what to make, so I need some suggestions on desserts that will go good with fried catfish, fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw...thanks!

Here's a great one:

Lemon Dessert

Bottom Crust
1 cup flour
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Middle Layer
1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 (16 ounce) container Cool Whip (or whipped cream)
Top Layer
2 boxes cook and serve lemon flavor instant pudding and pie filling, prepared by directions on box (Be sure to check box for ingredients that may be needed.)
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Bottom Crust: Mix flour, 1/4 cup powdered sugar and margarine together.
Press lightly into greased 11x14 dish.
Cook 15 minutes on 350 degrees F.
Cool completely.
Middle Layer:Mix softened cream cheese, 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar and Cool Whip (even better if you whip heavy cream).
When crust is cooled, spread mixture on top.
Refrigerate overnight.
Top Layer: (Best if made the night before) Make lemon pie filling by directions on box.
After cooking pour in a bowl and refrigerate overnight.
Next morning stir lemon pie filling and spoon over top of middle layer.
Sprinkle with chopped pecans.

This may do the trick - smooth and delicious - I've made this dozens of times - always good!
Butterscotch Layered Dessert
1 cup plain flour
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 (13 ounce) carton Cool Whip
3 cups milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
2 (3 1/2 ounce) boxes instant butterscotch pudding mix
1 cup nuts, chopped

Melt 1 stick butter or margarine; add 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1 cup flour.
Mix together and press into 9x13-inch pan.
Bake 15 minutes at 350°.
Cool.
Mix cream cheese and 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 cup Cool Whip.
Mix well; spread over cooled crust.
Mix 2 boxes instant butterscotch pudding with 3 cups milk; cook until thick and then cool.
Spread on cheese layer.
Add remaining Cool Whip and sprinkle with nuts.

Strawberry Cheese cake

CRUST
1 1/2 c Graham cracker crumbs
2 tb Sugar
3 tb Margarine or butter; melted

FILLING
19 oz Cheese, cream; softened
1 c Sugar
2 ts Lemon peel; grated
1/4 ts Vanilla
3 Eggs

GLAZE
1 c Strawberries; mashed
1 c Sugar
3 tb Cornstarch
1/3 c Water

Pre-heat oven to 350øF.

CRUST: Stir together graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Mix in butter
thoroughly and press into a 9" springform pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool.
Reduce oven temperature to 300øF.

FILLING: Beat cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add
sugar, beating until fluffy. Add lemon peel and vanilla. Beat in eggs
one at a time. Pour into shell. Bake 1 hour or until center is firm.
Cool to room temperature and then spread with the strawberry glaze.
Chill 3 hours.

GLAZE: Blend sugar and cornstarch together in a small saucepan. Stir
in water and strawberries. Cook, stirring constantly, until the
mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Cool
thoroughly before spreading over cheesecake.

Magic Seven-Layer Bars ingredients a million/2 c Butter a million c Butterscotch chips a million a million/2 c Graham cracker crumbs a million c Walnuts, chopped 6 oz..Semi-candy chocolate chips, a million c Sweetened condensed milk a million c Coconut, shredded training for Magic Seven-Layer Bars soften butter in a 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle crumbs over butter and upload final ingredients in layers as given. Bake at 350 F for greater or less half-hour. Makes approximately 40 bars observe: in case you go with a thicker bar, use a 9 x 9 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes longer.

a snake and a 1/2 is basicaly a layer of milk scokes cookies a layer fo dream whip a bar grined up on top of that more dream whip then another layer of milk scoked cookies and later of dream whip again and then the grined up bar on top. it taste awsome and bont forget to let it chill in the fridge befor eating it, ( it makes it stick together)

What about SMORES? It is easy to store these products to make SMORES and everybody loves SMORES,especially when they go on fishing trips.
