Does anyone have a good recipe for pizza crust and sauce. I'm tired of the taste of the products you buy in a store. My kids won't eat it so it ends up being a waste of money.

here it is..

Pizza Crust & Pizza Sauce (Wheat-free)

Ingredients:

Pizza Crust
1 tablespoon dry yeast
2/3 cup brown rice flour or sorghum flour (see note)
1/2 cup tapioca flour (see note)
2 teaspoons xanthan gum (see note)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin powder (Knox)
1 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning
2/3 cup warm milk (110 degrees F.) or non-dairy liquid
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Extra rice flour for sprinkling

Pizza Sauce
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Toppings of your choice

Instructions:

Sauce: Combine all ingredients in small saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, while Pizza Crust is being assembled. Makes about 1 cup.

Crust: Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. In medium mixer bowl using regular beaters (not dough hooks), blend the yeast, flours, xanthan gum, salt, gelatin powder, and Italian seasoning on low speed. Add warm milk, sugar, oil, and vinegar.

Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. (If the mixer bounces around the bowl, the dough is too stiff. Add water if necessary, one tablespoon at a time, until dough does not resist beaters.) The dough will resemble soft bread dough.

Put mixture on a greased 12-inch pizza pan. Liberally sprinkle rice flour onto dough, then press dough into pan, continuing to sprinkle dough with flour to prevent sticking to your hands. Make edges thicker to hold the toppings.

Bake pizza crust for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Top Pizza Crust with sauce and your preferred toppings. Bake for another 20-25 minutes or until top is nicely browned.

the only crust recipe I have does the same thing - gets hard after a while, but I can help you with the sauce! I made this at home one night when my boyfriend and I couldn't find pizza sauce at the grocery store, and he really liked it! 1 can tomato sauce 1 can tomato paste olive oil garlic salt sugar Mrs. Dash tomato basil and garlic so, I can't tell you exactly how much of everything I put in - you'll just have to do that on your own - to your own liking. But I can tell you that the olive oil is to thin it out a little. The sugar is really necessary to take out that metallic type taste, and the rest of the spices are to give it that pizza flavor. Hope that helps!

Here is an easy recipe for 2 large pizzas:

Ingredients -
1.5 tbsp of instant yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp crushed black pepper (optional)
¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
3-4 tbsp of olive oil
3.5 cups of all purpose flour

Sauce:
Mix 1 can of crushed tomatoes with some herbs of your choice (like oregano, basil etc), salt, 1-2 tsp of sugar, black pepper, garlic powder and 3-4 tbsp of olive oil.
Or you can use store bought pizza sauce.

Mix the yeast in warm water (approximately 2 cups). Mix all the other ingredients in flour and make medium-firm dough. You can use all white flour or mix some whole wheat. You can also adjust olive oil according to your preference. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it sit for 2 hrs in the oven (NOT turned on, just so that the dough stays warm). Once the dough rises, divide it into 2 halves and flatten it on the pizza pan. If you have time cover it and out it in the refrigerator for ½ hr or so. Spread on the dough in this order - pizza sauce, shredded cheese, toppings, and some more cheese on top and bake it in 500 degree oven for 15 minutes. Enjoy the pizza!!

Pizza crust is your choice. Pick one that has semolina flour in it though. A sauce a lot of pizza places in the North East is as follows: The Greeks love it.

4 small cans tomato paste
water to thin to your consistency (little at a time)
Add: basil, oregano, granulated garlic, celery salt, sugar_sm.amt., salt, pepper Enjoy: let sauce sit for a couplemof hours minimum then recheck the flavor

We actually buy our crust from two places here in town...one is a local pizza joint...they are expensive ...about $3.50 for 1lb of dough. AND we also go to Bertucci's..they are cheap...about $1.50 for 1.5 lbs.

Our sauce we make from scratch. We mince one garlic clove and sautee it in olive oil, then add 28 oz. of crushed tomatoes. Season it with salt and pepper....very simple very good. WE then cook it at 500 degrees on unglazed quarry tiles you get at home depot (about 30 cents a piece - have nine of them in our oven. Fantastic!
