my nephew Jonah, 3 years old, is living with us and i think he may have autism. he can only say a few words, no sentences, and will sit and play for hours in a corner by himself. also he will pull at his ears and cries a lot. he's very attached to me and my 17 year old daughter and won't be with anyone else. we've taken him to the doctor and they are running tests. they think the problem with his ears is that everything he hears is magnified 5 x louder so any loud noise hurts him. does any one have an autistic child, what are the symptoms? please help. any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone out there give me any factual knowledge, as to whether it is harmful for mother's to leave their children to go out and work?

I've not worked since my first child was born but am planning on going back to work 20 hours per week (4 hours per day) and my youngest who is 22 months will have to be left with a childminder for this time. My eldest is 4, and is at nursery most of the time, though will have to have two sessions with the childminder, and obviously all sessions during school holidays etc. He starts school in September, so he won't be at the childminders at all after then. I still intend for my youngest to start nursery when he's 3, so he'll still get to mix with children as he normally would....but I want to know about the psychological aspects for him!? He's a very confident and sociable child, which is why I'm even considering it....my eldest was always very shy and clingy.

In your opinions which is best? I have a very sociable 22 month old who doesn't care whether I'm with him or not...but I also have a very shy and clingy 4 year old who would also need part care when he's not at nursery (until he starts school in September). So I'm basically looking for something that the 4 year old will enjoy and that won't be too stressful for him....but ultimately, something the younger one will enjoy long term, because he'll be there the most.

The hours would be 10-2 daily...so my instincts tell me a childminder would be best, because a nursery is usually a full day solution isn't it?

My mom-in-law would like to know what Chelsea would like for her first birthday. She generally spends around $50-75. I was thinking of asking for a good toy that could be also be used by my future children. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

My parents are soemtimes home with my son while I am at work and that is when the real trouble begins. He calls them names and sometimes to jump on them. They try to talk, yell or punish him but it still does not work. So they have given up and allow "The Disney Channel" to raise my child for an hour. You would think an hour can do no harm but it does. He has become lazy in school and only wants to watch his favorite shows. He knows every Jump in song but cannot follow his school work. He has lost his motvation! Even when I request my parents not the put the TV on they complained that they are tired and this is the only way he stays still and listen. Please, do not suggest to me not to leave him with them b/c I do not do it by choice. I do not get home from work until 7 and afterschool closed at 6. So it is always an hour of frustration for them and me? How do I do this with no support from my parents? I do I take control so far away?

A lot of stores have their boots clearanced right now and I'd like to buy ahead for next year. My 2 yr old wears a 6 to 6 1/2 right now, I'm trying to guess what she'd wear next fall (October/November). Any ideas on how to guess what size your child would be wearing about 7 or 8 months from now? I know it won't be exact for sure, just a guess...

He does pretty good with water bottles with only the occasional spill and he does clean up after himself (when told) when he does make a mess. What do you think? Thanks!

My son has had a high fever (103-104 at night, 99-101 during the day) for 4 days now. I had taken him to the doctor yesterday and was told he had tonsillitis, since it was viral there was not much we could do but wait it out. His fever shows no sign of going away yet and he's so miserable (I'm giving him plenty of tylenol, he's drinking lots of fuids but refusing to eat) - anyways, how much longer would you wait until going to the doctor again? thanks!!!

My daughter will wake up crying a couple times a night everynight and atleast once a week she will cry so hard that she will gag and throw up. After that she goes back to sleep and I dont hear from her the rest of the night. This is happening way too often I'm afraid she might be damging her insides as much as she is throwing up.

My son who is 5 and my daughter who is two wake up occasionally at night crying, usually complaining that their leg hurts. I've been told its "growing pains", that some children actually feel some pain during a growth spurt. Just wondering if anyone else's child has had this, and if so, how did you deal with it? I've tried massaging their legs but did resort to giving them Tylenol a couple of times. thanks!!

I am looking for a website that is for stay at home moms? I have 3 under 3ys (3yr w/ apraxia, 2yr w/speech delay and 6mo old) and a 7 & 10yr old (w/ Bipolar/ADHD - so she isn't much help!). My day flies by and I don't get anything accomplished. My husband is getting aggrevated and so am I. Also, I am mentally tired all the time from being with the kids 24/7. I do get a break now and then but it's not enough time. I need help with setting a reasonable schedule for daily tasks, kid time, quick/easy dinner & lunch ideas (receipes). We are also self employed and I have office work to get done. I feel like a pinball bouncing from kid to kid to task to kid etc. Are there ANY websites that address these kinds of things? oh, not to be rude or anything at all, but I would like to find websites and not advice. Thanks!

I feel like I should be able to figure this out on my own. I have potty trained many kids before but my son, who is 3 yrs old, has been pee-pee potty trained since last summer...no problem! But the one time he pooped in the potty, he looked at it, backed up and has never done it again! I have tried everything....reading on potty, candy, incentives, big boy underwear, etc. He just runs and hides and I have only caught him twice in the process and ran him to the potty. He doesn't care that it's on his bottom...he doesn't seem to even notice sometimes that he's done it! He starts preschool in the fall and I have GOT to get him fully trained. Any new ideas, personal stories that worked for you? I would be most grateful for an answer that will solve this problem!!
:)Thanks!
