ok maybe i wouldnt be asking but-my two year old has them!!! I mean...shes two, for crying put loud.
She will talkto her "friends" and when i ask what shes doing she says, "Im using imagination!!!" she says it just like that.
I have been told by many people shes very smart for her age.
She is an only child, and doesnt go to daycare we have a private sitter. my sitter has kids and they/we are very involved with the other kids at church so she is being socialized, what do you think?

An old friend is coming into town with her son who will be turning 2 years old, and I wanted to get a little gift for him. I saw this great underwater playset at Toys R Us with all kinds of sea creatures that I think is really cool, but age recommendation is for kids ages 3 and up. I really don't know much about little kids. Is it a bad idea to get a 2 year old a toy recommended for a 3 year old or am I worrying about nothing?

I need ideas for my 3-year old daughter's birthday party. Both boys and girls will be attending. Probably about 12 boys and girls total.

This is the first party I have ever organized, and I have not been to any other kids parties, so I really need ideas to keep them entertained!

We are thinking of renting a room in a community center so the kids can have room to run around.

Alright, I've heard of the terrible twos...but we are entering uncharted territory. She's fine when she's with her father, myself or an adult, but when she's with other children she's mean to them. She constantly screams, bites (HARD), pulls out their hair and slaps my brother and sister-in-law (9 and 7years old) and my neice (2yrs old as well). We've tried tapping her hand, time out, redirecting... pretty much everything imaginable. NOTHING WORKS! She's such a sweet kid any other time. I tell the kids not to retaliate, but I just dont know what to do anymore. HELP!

I have a little boy who is coming upto 4 in May. The thing is i work 5 days a week 32 hours a week. I pick him up from school twice a week and my partner looks after him and takes him to school as he is out at work at the moment. The thing is my little boy has become really awful! He won't eat his meals (he always had a problem with eating) gives cheek, won't concerntrate when i try to teach him things. I try to sit down with him and teach him his alphabet and numbers even though he knows SOME of them but he messes about and doesn't seem interested. His dad plays with him but can't really teach him much as my partner has problems reading and writing. I get the impression that my son hates me and preferes his dad to me which is quite upsetting. It's got to the point now where, i know this sounds awful but i can't be bothered spending time with my son as he doesn't seem to care and everything i do is just a waste. Is this normal to feel so low and useless? I just feel like running!

My son will be 3 yrs. old in May. He is doing very well with the peeing in the potty. He tells me when he needs to go. On the other hand, he refuses to poop in the potty. In fact I walked out of the bathroom this morning to give him some privacy and instead of pooping in the potty he pooped beside his little potty. I don't know what to do about this anymore. Please give me some ideas....

I want to be a SAHM for a few years but I am worried about losing my skills. When you have a child to take care of there is never time for anything like reading up on the latest journals. We are also planning another child soon. My husband earns good money and I can stay home easily but I worry non stop about the prejudice I would encounter should i need to reenter the workforce in 7 -9 years once both kids are in school full time. I am selling products on Ebay to supplement are income and I am having a hard time doing this with the baby and I earn only a modest amount. It is painfully hard to find time for this but I get it done when baby is sleeping or late at night. I'm worried that Ebay is too risky to build a living on, what do you think I should do. My husband really wants me at home, not to limit me but because he has a high powered job where he must travel a lot and has no time for the baby other than 20 minutes a day . He has no time for house maintenance either>

He has started hitting us and saying awful things like he wants to kill us or that we suck. He is living with us and 3 teenagers, which is probably where he is getting the lingo. We do not allow them to hit him or talk that way but he has picked it up from somewhere. We do time outs when he behaves inappropriately. Any other suggestions?

my daughter rides the bus to preschool and home. the driver is getting quite cranky with me (like i tell her to get up and run around?) because my daughter unbuckles her seatbelt and gets up everytime they stop to let another child off. it just started on monday, and already the bus driver is making me crazy. i need some way to show my daughter that getting up is not allowed, or maybe something that'll keep her attention so she doesn't notice the bus is stopping. she's speech delayed, which makes it a little harder. any tips would be great. thanks

My son loves garlic, onion, chili peppers, curry, etc. I started giving him ginger and he got a rash, so I called his allergist and told the nurse and she was upset with me that I give a toddler spices like that. I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, especially since these spices are healthy for him. Does anyone else give their toddlers spices?

We have tried everything to make her(1 year old) sleep but nothing works. She just will not sleep at night. We tried rocking her to sleep with and without a bottle, stuffing her and then not so much, her fav toy to sleep with, putting her in her crib awake to fall asleep with and without a bottle, relaxing bath and massage oils, reading books and nusery song cd's... it goes on. I have tried what the books ad magazine advice, even my families advice. She just wakes up screaming. We sometimes let her sleep by us but I don't find it safe, plus, I can't sleep because I roll over on her. I don't believe in letting a baby cry it out because I find it's emotional abuse. Do any of you have any ideas? I haven't got sleep in months and her naps are only 15-30 minutes long. I will take anything!

I have asked about this before and am still having the same problem so i am trying to get some new perspectives, my son is about 20 months old and absolutely will not sleep in his bed all night, he has a bedtime routine of a bath and a story and then he cuddles with mom until he falls asleep around 9 930, i lay him in his bed and hes fine until about 11 1130 and then he wakes up screaming, i know i shouldnt but i go get him after listening to his screams for as long as i can stand, i have tried waiting it out but he will scream for over an hour even if i just go in and tell him everythings ok and its time to go nite nite. usually i can get him to go back to sleep and then i lay him back down and then he does the same thing again around 2-3, needless to say he usually ends up in our bed bc my husband and i cant stand hearing him scream for hours but then he kicks and moves around so much in our bed that no one gets a good nights sleep, i dont know what to do, please help!

We are considering taking our 2 1/2 (well, she'll be 3 in June) year old daughter to the show and while she loves all the princesses, I don't know if she will be able to remain entertained throughout the entire show. I want to know if anyone has taken a young child before and how it went for them. Thanks!

I have a 2year old that is out of control. He is very adventorious and likes to explore. Always getting himself into trouble and mis behaving. I'll put him on time out but than all he do is cry and whine. After time out he'll go back and do the same thing.
so far he had: Killed all the fish in the fish tank, knocked down two statue, broke the thermostat conrol, scratched my big screen tv, stuffed teddy bears in the toliet, went into my computer room and took a marker and drew all over the computer screen and desk, almost killed our dog by ridding on it, broke a glass window by throwing his toy cars, always getting out from his car seat when we are on the road, and the list goes on.

Is this normal for a 2year old?

A couple of friends advise me to take him to a doctor and they'll
give him some pills to calm him down but I refuse to drug my son to make him behave. I think drugging a child is wrong. It's not like he's sick or anything.

He has a little sister she is 11 months and he has been totally different since she came. They both get the same amout of attention and love. I ask him a simple question can you please move away from t.v. and he says no and keeps his hand on it. He refuses to pull up his pants, I'll tell him his baby sister is sleeping and he'll run into the room and wake her up. I feel like I have to threaten him to go in time out all the time because he just won't listen. What are some things I can do?
