Toddler & Preschooler - March 2007

About 2 months after I stopped breastfeeding her(I stopped feeding at 13 months), she started putting her hand down my top all the time . She does it if we go out somewhere and we are unsure or if she has been out with Daddy or whoever and hasn't seen me for a while.
I'm not in a hurry to stop her doing it, its not annoying and if it makes her happy thats fine.
I was just wondering if any other mums had their toddlers do this and how long it lasted for?

I am due my 2nd child in May and my first will be 2 years old. I would like to use his current child seat, which accomodates up to 18kilo for the baby and replace his one with a seat/booster with a 5 point harness which can accomodate him until for quite a few years.
I know the Britax Regent does up to 80lb (in kilos???)but I hear it does not comply to Australian standards.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Anyone have any favorite websites and games and toy suggestions for developing a baby's mind?

My son will turn anything into a weapon (current favorite is sword)--paper, stick, toy spatula, etc. Why does he always want to poke or "do battle"? Is this a boy thing? A 3yo thing? Will he outgrow it? He doesn't have any toy guns or swords, and never watches violent TV. Where does this come from?

Okay, I have a daycare and one of the parents wanted us to give cough medicine to her 1yo daughter(if she was coughing). Then when she came to pick her up she asked if she had any and we said no that she hasnt been coughing. She said she still wanted us to give it to her(even if she didnt NEED it). Plus this cough medicine if for children 6 and up and wanted us to give her the dose for a SIX year old. My doctor told me that a one year shouldn't have cough medicine because at my son's age(also one year old) they need to cough up mucus. So I told her that and she got all mad and I told her that we will not give it to her while at our house because we couldnt be responsible for an overdose whlie she was here. Especially if she wasn't coughing. I know she is the baby's mom and it's none of my business but I'd hate to see something bad happen to the baby because of it. As a parent, why would you give your child medicine they don't need? What do you think?

My 13 mth old has been acting weird the last few days. Not sure if it's because I was working a different shift this week on different days, or if he's trying to drop a nap. But Tuesday we went out for the afternoon shopping, after his morning nap, and thought he would sleep in the stroller or in the car on the way home for his late afternoon nap,but he didn't, he was up until bedtime 830.Then Wednesday, only slept when I took him for a walk at 400 since he hadn't napped yet all day!! (in-laws were watching him), and yesterday thought he was trying to drop a nap, so he staid up later and I layed him down after lunch and was up at 315, but still needed to have a cat nap at 6 ??? I don't know if any of that information is important, my main question is how/when do children drop to 1 nap/day ? ? (Not that I'm complaining he's been having 2, but not sure what he's trying out right now)

My son is 13 month olds and I started giving him timeout when he was 12 months old. I'm not sure if he understands it but he has been better since I started doing it. He WILL stop doing something naughty when I tell him that he will get a timeout. I think he is more advanced for his age. I get crap when I tell people he gets time-outs already. I do time outs by Supernanny's rules, and I explain to him him why I put him in time-out and I think it is working. Do you think it's to early for him to understand it? When did you start doing time outs?

My daughter is close to being two and like any other child she has her good days and she has her bad days, but when their bad, their BAD and it just seems like I'm strung out lately....so I guess the major question is other than just walking away, what are some other things i can do to be able to deal with this without losing my last bit of sanity, lol.

Our son used to love TV (Thomas and Friends, Dora, Caillou, etc.). One day he decided that he didn't want to watch anymore TV. He kind of freaks out when the TV gets turned on, so we have had no TV in our house for the past 3 weeks. We are proud of him and are enjoying life with no television. We are just trying to figure out where this is coming from. Any ideas?

My soon to be 4 year old daughter has been behaving extremely terrible for almost a year and I can't get it to stop. The family members call her the spawn of satan. She is like a wild child running and screaming. She won't listen to me ever. Even though she knows how she won't dress herself. I had her pottie trained, except for #2, and 3 weeks later she won't stop going in her pull up all the time. She goes to headstart and is terrible there as well. She runs from the teacher, won't come to the groups hardly ever. She constantly ignores just about everyone. She has tried to get on the bus and went to get into the driver seat behind the driver and bus aide's back. I don't know how to get her under control, to get her to settle down. The only thing that keeps her in one spot for longer than 15 minutes is tv, I've tried taking it away and it didn't work.I have 2 other children that are 7 and 5, I never had this problem with them. How can I get her under control?

I have had the WORST experience so far...I really need help in getting GREAT not good recomindations for daycares in Chatsworth California. I have seen daycares that have scared me and left me in the position of feeling that I doubt that there are safe places to leave my 14 month old while at work. I want a daycare that has a really clean enviroment with very ethical staff. I dont even care about the rates at this point, Im willing to pay for a piece of mind. Please give me info on daycares u recommend, tell me about your experience, how long your child has been there and even there phone number so that I can call them too! I really appreciate any help I can get Dear parents! By the way, teh whole, punishment and "in the corner" thing is NOT OKAY with me. so let me know ho wthey discipline children taht misbehave if they do misbehave. Keep in mind, It needs to be a place where they accept 14 month old toddlers! Thanks
