My child is 3 and a quarter years old and he doesn't speak clearly and sharply. Initially it was not a concern for me but i got feedbacks from several parents that their children was well versed at the age of 2 and a half. Now i'm pretty much worried about his speech. He can speak but not clear and some times he mumbles. What am i to do?

In the last couple weeks, there have been about 4 mornings when my son's diaper was totally dry. He is 13 months old and sleeps from 7pm to about 6:30am. He typically drinks about 6 ounces of milk at dinnertime. He definitely drank about the same amount on each evening, so I can't explain why his diaper would sometimes be totally dry in the morning and sometimes be soaked. Is he actually old enough to be "holding it" some nights? I really don't think it is dehydration, so what else could cause this?

Im am going to be completely honest, I am at home with my 15 month son all day. I am NOT a good housekeeper and would rather go back to work than have to clean all day. I just want to get in the habit of more play and getting them involved with things. I walk to the park about once a week with him and the girl that I watch but get easily distracted by the computer (obviously) and get into moods where I just am plain ole lazy at home some days. I do keep the house clean but not spotless... I want to spend time with my son without getting bored out of my mind!!

that children eat the snack provided for them, and one i have heard of even insists that the child drinks all of their milk before the snack. Am i the only one who thinks this is wrong? Shouldnt children be able to decide for themselves if they are hungry? I worry that this could make food an 'issue' rather than an enjoyment, what do you think(any evidence to support/oppose this would be good).
Thanks

My son just turned one lastweek. My pediatrician told me it was time to remove the bottle, I have 3 months till he must stop using it all together. The past month or so i've been preparing him for this and removed all bottles expect for the nap time bottle and the goodnight bottle. He uses the sippy cup just fine but in order for him to sleep he MUST have his bottle. He doesn't use pacifiers, he never did. He thinks they are a toy and even when i tried to get him to take it he just pulls it out and throws it. My son just LOVES his bottle, its def his security blanket how can I take this away from him??

My mom died pretty suddenly Feb 26 2007, I have been doing my best to explain to my children about grandma dieing and going up to heaven. My four year old doesn't seem to really grasp the concept of death, but she realizes that Grandma is not around anymore. My 2 year old doesn't understand at all. What do I do? If I show them I'm afraid they will try to wake her up and that will be so hard for me to see, and another worry is will they have dreams about it? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Do you have some good ideas to keep him busy for a few hours while his Mom is out? It is rainy outside and he gets into EVERYTHING all over the house.

Hi sorry discipline, i dont think its the right word but couldnt think of what to say. My daughter had a tantrum outside a store yesterday, was screaming as she wanted to sit inthe trolley and not ont the seat (store forbids kids to sit in the trolley due to accidents. Anyway she started screaming so partner went into store and i took daughter back to car, she was screamign and screaming and i told her if she didnt stop i would give her a smack on the leg. I did this, a gentle tap before you say anything, she kept crying for a minute or so then said she would sit in the chair and could she go in the sotre, so we did. I hated smacking her on the leg and not something i have done before but she was screaming so much and i couldnt think of what to do, she wouldnt get in the car.....its no excuse i know but how would others of handle this. please dont think of me as a nasty person for this.

my 18 mth old has been taking off her clothes and diaper at naptime and bedtime for about two months now. im sure you can guess what happens then. we have tried every kind of tape in the book. theres not one she hasn't mastered. we have tried to start potty training and she loves to sit on the potty but there is no business happening in about a month. the only thing we can do is put on the footed pjs inside out so she cant find the zipper. this isnt going to last much longer. she has found the zipper and is figuring out how to get it down a little at a time. yes she is a bit of a firecracker. any suggestions on helping this? i feel really bad waking up and finding that she has slept in whatever business she has made. i really dont want to go back to that. please help!

My 3 1/2 moved from the nusery school to the crech, so did most of the kids in his class last year, however he was put into a different class from the other kids he knew. Last Nov i finally got him out of napies. He started in Jan, yesturday i got a call from the school saying he is behind the other kids, he slightly non reactive. He knows all his animals, primary colours, counts to 18, knows directions from my house to grans, puts clothes in wash and is very helpful. Except he has gone back to the napies all day and screams if i dont put one on. The school has said they might have to keep him back at the end of the year as he does not hold a pencil correctly or cut and paste. He is extremly shy and does not like strangers, they are telling me he is insecure? I am a single parent and spend all my time with him. Should i worry? Do 3 year old normally get kept back? there is still 9 months before the end of the year. I pay alot of money for this school

My daughter turned 2 in December and is obsessed with earrings, she has some play "clip-on" earrings and is always telling me that my earrings are pretty, so I have decided to get her ears pierced. We are also expecting a new baby (girl) in April so I want to help her feel like a "big girl" and do something special with her.

My question is, how well did your toddler handle getting her ears pierced?

Where did you go to do it?

About how much did it cost?

Thanks for any feedback, I was thinking Claire's so if anyone has done it there please tell me about the experiance.

Negative comments will be ignored, she has made it quite clear that SHE WANTS earrings.
