In the last couple weeks, there have been about 4 mornings when my son's diaper was totally dry. He is 13 months old and sleeps from 7pm to about 6:30am. He typically drinks about 6 ounces of milk at dinnertime. He definitely drank about the same amount on each evening, so I can't explain why his diaper would sometimes be totally dry in the morning and sometimes be soaked. Is he actually old enough to be "holding it" some nights? I really don't think it is dehydration, so what else could cause this?

Well when you have changed the nappy in the morning feel it an hour later. If it is wet then he is simply holding it in all night which is very lucky for you since you will prbably be able to start potty training early(but not right now)
If nappy is not wet then take him to a doctors to make sure nothing is wrong.

Time to introduce the potty mom.
My daughter (20 months) began potty training at 14 months and were almost done now.His bladder has now become large enough to hold urine in large amounts and the nights he's soaked are basically accidents. So start using words like we'll try harder next time and good try and he will respond quickly.

And by the way you are so lucky my daughter still gets up 3 times a night.LUCKY YOU

Its caused by him not going potty during the night. He obviously most certainly can go all night without peeing.

My 6 week old goes from 8pm to 3 am without peeing. Even though he nurses twice in that time. His body is just able to use all that moisture for its function and metabolic rate. Before and after that time, he's a diaper wetting machine.

You baby is fine. I was completely toilet trained at 18 months, just five months from where your son is. And was able to go all night without wetting my bed. Each baby has his own system!

:)

If he isn't ill, no fever, no rashes I wouldn't worry about it.. Our 15 year old did the same thing. He was fully potty trained by 17 months. There are just some kids you get lucky with, they let you know they're getting ready, and it sounds like you have one....
I wouldn't try training yet. Talk to your Pedi, and them know what he's doing, and I would start trying to train as soon as he can verbalize needing to go.. And you have a boy, so teaching him to aim at Cheerios is a great way to help with aim.... Good Luck
