When my son was about 4 months, he ended up with a diaper rash that just wouldn't quit. I posed the same question and with all the information that I got, I was able to get it taken care of. I'm sure that you've probably got one of each kind of diaper rash cream if you've been fighting this for a while. Each diaper change, use a diff. rash cream. Just rotate through all of them. Of course the naked butt helps dry it out, so as long as you can handle having him naked, let him play naked. Also, if it won't go away with rotating through all the diff. rash creams, there's a possibility that he's got a yeast infection. My son had that and the Dr. gave us these tiny tubes of some medicated cream to take care of the yeast infection. When you finally get the rash cleared up, use the regular plain A&D ointment all over him (rear to front, all the way up to where the diaper stops on his tummy) with each and every diaper change. Since I started using the a&d he hasn't had a rash since. Since I use it so much, I just buy the big tub with the orange/yellow screw off lid. WORKS WONDERS!!! I wish I had known about the A&D ointment before he ever got a rash. Good luck!!!

Have you tried Balmex? It works well for diaper rash.
Here are some things that worked for my kids who both had sensitive skin. For part of the day leave the diapers off the baby to allow air to help heal the skin. This was advised by our pediatrician. Alternate between cloth diapers and disposable ones throughout the day as some kids are more sensitive to the plastic, outside liner in disposables. Change the diapers more frequently.
Put a few tablespoons of baking soda in the baby' bath tub and allow the baby to soak its bum twice per day. Pat dry with a soft towel. Don't rub as it might irritate the delicate skin. Apply Balmex liberally after each diaper change.
Avoid using baby powder on the area that is reddened. If you are using baby detergent, run the clothes through an extra rinse cycle. It may be necessary to just change detergents, too.

I have a few suggestions:
1. It could be the type of diaper your using that is causing it. I noticed with my son that when we would put certain brands of diapers on him he would get major diaper rash.
2. Another cream to try is Desitin. It's some real good stuff
3. Lastly put him in an area where he can run around with no diaper and let some air get to it.
I hope this helps a little

I often put a large blanket on the livng room floor, blocked off the entrance to the room, and let my son crawl around with no diaper on, for long periods of time.
Putting the medicine on them causes so much pain!!
my mom used corn starch, just sprinkled on him from about 1/2 foot away.
if he has 'the runs" then that will aggravate it more, so what he eats may have to be monitered. I am sure that you already would have had that covered though.
When it was time to put the diaper back on, I rubbed the Desiten onto the diaper rather than his butt.
It helped very much. I hope you and your son find some relief

This is an old remedy that was passed down from my mother and I used on my children. Just plain old Corn Starch.
I do put some diaper rash cream on and then the Corn Starch. Clears up fast.

Go to the store and buy Buedroux's butt paste. That stuff works wonders. Also change the baby's diaper often. Make sure that you let the bottom dry before applying the cream otherwise it will trap the moisture. Hope that helps!

Make sure u change him often and go to the drug store and find some pain relieving cream. Plus keep baby powder on to keep it dry.Good luck If u can't find any then try some vagicane creme with aloe. It sounds werid but it has a pain and anti ich fomula in it that will help. Use it only in the morning and before bed.

let him lay bare bottom in the sun for 10-15 mins a day clears it up really quick ( Air dries it and the sunlight helps the skin make vitamin D). Also A&D works good.

I like A&D ointment over desitin. its less stickey and less pastey and ive had better results with that then anything, even prescribed. also let the air get to his rash. the longer you can keep the diaper off him the better.
