what can we do to make him more happy and enjoy playing. We are only planning to have just the one but I am having second thoughts as to should I have another one so he won't be bored. Any ideas on toys for an only child that can keep them amused for hours or for the time it takes for me to check emails and study?

Every night for the last week my 2 year old has been seeing "monsters" and starts to scream. We run in there to find him in his crib crying.
There have been no changes in home life, every thing is the same. He is not going to a babysitter... I am a stay at home mom. Nothing is different, so what is triggering this freak out.
If we get him out of bed for a while, he goes to sleep in our arms, if we leave him in there he freaks out a couple more times, and cries himself to sleep. I thought it was a attention thing, but I play with him all of the time. I am VERY attentive.

Please... other mom's help me!!!

I need some ideas, please to get her into her own bed. Her room is lovely, full of princesses, she never slept in her crib, her toddler bed and she's never slept in her "big girl" bed. We've tried letting her cry, we've tried staying w/her til she's asleep, she winds up in our bed, smack in the middle. We know now that "co-sleeping" is not for us, but when she was an infant it made life so much easier... please help. I really would like this to be a stress free for her as possible, but it's making her dad and I really cranky. Thanks

Did anyone else start feling really sad when they noticed their baby really wasn't a baby anymore...my daughter just turned two, and she's potty trained, sleeps in a bed rather than a cot, eats all by herself, uses 'big girl' cups for her drinks, okay she spills sometimes, but she knows how to use them...
It just makes me see that she's growing up so fast, and I miss her being little! I was told so many times 'She won't be a baby for long'...but the truth of it never quite hit until now.

So my question is, did any of you feel sad when you noticed your children growing up so fast? How did you deal with it?
I know that she is turning into a marvellous little girl, but it's so depressing! Is there such a thing as the two year blues?

I did ask this in the parenting section, but not many answered...

My 2 years old always get in trouble in school smacking the teacher and other kids. He does that too at home with us, when he has a temper tantrum, the first thing he does is smacking us in the face, he broke my glasses last week and he bump off my front tooth with his head today, it was so painful I cried. My husband does spank him, but I wonder that method would work on his behavior

Well, I am having issues with them napping (they talk and one is a light sleeper and wakes up and wakes sissy up too) i want to seperate them but one will scream her head off for hours and wake my other nappers up. (I do childcare). How shall I do this? ages 2 and 5. 5 y/o will be in school next year and we need to get 2 y/o used to being away from sissy.

I have a two and a half year old daughter and she throws tantrums when we go out in public if she doesn't get what she wants. I know how we raised her up to now has something to do with it but at the moment she is throwing a fit, do you:
1) pick her up and leave -she cries lowder
2) do you try to reason with her - she say's no
3) do you get your tone of voice change to-being upset

suggestions?

She is eating and drinking normally. No vomiting, no diahrrhea, no runny nose, no coughing and she says nothing hurts. She'll be 4 in july so can tell me if something hurts. I'm at a loss, normally it's an ear infection but she says nothing hurts and she hasn't been tugging at her ears. I've never seen a fever unaccompanied by other signs or symptons. Her temp wvers between 99 and 102 so we are taking to the doc tomorrow morning if it doesen't break for good. It has gone away and then come back and we have been giving her motrin and tylenol. Sorry so long I just wanted to give all the details. Have you seen anything like this before.

My son is about 18 months old and he keeps on taking his diaper off problem is when he takes it off he'll pee on the floor. I try to keep it on him but he takes it off again. How can I tell if he is ready for toilet training and if he's not how the heck do I keep his diaper on? I wake up in the morning to see his diaper on the floor of his bedroom.

Help! My 16-month-old (almost 17) is still learning to communicate, does well with some sign language (we don't know the one for potty yet) but is starting to try and pull off his diaper even if he pees in it just once. I think he should use the toilet, but I don't know if we can communicate so that he can tell me when he has to go or if he knows to hold it?? He pees himself a lot lately overnight and such with his diaper because he likes drinking something to go to sleep or right before. Help!

Daughter had many car accidents smoked drank & wanted to stay out all night all while not talking much more than a yeah or a grunt that was supposed to be a yeah. It started she could do anything as long as the truth was told. She lied some & the rules got tighter. Prior to that she got pregnant tried to kill herself, since then I have worried sick about her every time she went out. I could not handle being walked on. It was come home sleep & hide in her room with the cell phone to her ear. We Set some rules last night she tried to follow, but I could not get past some messages from boys on a cell phone, nor could I not try to impose more rules. I told her the only thing at 18 that changed was she could leave. She left told my wife on phone at work she would join military or kill herslef. She has a boyfriend short time. Shemay move in with? I did give her a hug after we packed her in a car hers & told her in any real danger she can come back she was in local college.

My kid is just crazy! I mean, I know that to an extent some of this is normal two-year-old behavior, but how much of it? When I compare him to other kids his age, he's soooo much more hyper! Other kids will just hold onto their mom's finger while in line at the post office and suck on their thumbs - not mine! He's all over the place! I can't even stand in one spot long enough to write a check without him taking off and destroying displays. He ignores everything we tell him, but when I see other kids his age they'll do what they're told at least after a couple of times! On the other hand - he's EXTREMELY smart and at 25 months already recognizes his ABCs, has an extensive vocabulary, whereas my friend's boy of the same age isn't nearly as verbal. He's also shown interest in potty training without any prompting from his father or me. I just don't know what to think about this kid, other than just loving him!

My 4 year old grandson is going to be tested for ADD on the 21st of June. My grandson and his dad (which is our son) live with us. I have been trying to pay close attention to what he eats and what might "trigger" some of his behavior. I have noted that he wakes up quite happy, but after the first glass of milk, his behavior gets quite aggressive and erratic. This is not every time, but most of the time. He does not complain of his tummy hurting or any other physical pain, so I'm sort of at a loss. Just wondering if this might be a milk allergy or if anyone has advice. Thanks!!
