My four year old has suddenly started calling his little brother (22 Months) a jerk and saying that he is not his brother etc etc. I spend alot of individual time with both of them and it doesn't seem to help. I also tried reasoning with the four year old. Yeah, I know that was stupid!! Anyway, do I just let it ride out and see what happens or should I intervene?

My 2 1/2 year old little girl isn't getting potty training...My husband and I have been trying for three weeks now to get her to train...although we don't stress it....we make sure we're consistent and put her on potty time about every half hour...We've done everything from letting her see us go...to playing cartoons and reading books about it...explaining what the potty is for...even putting her messes in the potty so she can see that's where it belongs...and still nothing! She goes everywhere else except where she's supposed to! Although I know she'll eventually get it.......I can't help but get a little frustrated....any advice?

He is almost 18 months old. He currently wears a size 3, and is about 23 pounds. He doesn't leak out of his diaper, but it looks like maybe it fits him a little small--although the poundage on the bag is correct!

She hasnt perfected her walking yet so she trips a lot. While we were at my moms house in the kitchen she tripped over the chair and fell face first into the hard tile floors. She cried for maybe 40 secs & had a big red circle on her forehead. Thats the firrst time she ever fell onto tile floor. Is it possible she could of fractured something? OR should be she fine?

I have 3 y/o fraternal twin girls. One acts like a princess, the other like a boy. She dresses like a boy, runs like a boy, likes boy things, etc. I don't by any means encourage this, but I do allow her to wear shirts with baseballs on them and jean shorts, allow her to play with tractors, etc., because that's what she likes. She does have dolls, play dress up clothes, but she doesn't really like them. A lot of people seem to think that I should take all of the boy things away from her and make her act like a girl, but I don't see that this will have any effect on her but to cause confusion later on in life. If she is 3 and has been doing this since she was 2, I think it was inherent, and I just feel that taking away these things from her will do more damage than good. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Well, my 3-3/4 yr old was sleeping (he has a night light) & a thunderstorm came & turned out the lights. Of course he woke & screams. I got/carried him around while getting candles & flashlights. ( his twin, in another room never woke up)

Now there are “monsters”. I’ve reassured him, talked to him, showed him what (several) things are so to take away the mystery, used the spray bottle tech, used a wand tech, actually have run out of ideas.

My Q is :
Should I just let him sleep with me until such time as HE is ready to return “alone”? or will letting him sleep with me reinforce the monster idea?

My son is almost 3 years old and he has SOME of the symptoms of autism... he is "teriffied" of children his age, but he has never really been around any kids either. He is VERY shy i mean to the point that usually if someone talks to him that he doesn't know he will cry and want to go home. Other times it just takes him a little bit to "people watch" then he is fine... he is also obessed with fans... not watching or staring at them, just fans in general. If we go into a store he has to point them out and always has to tell me "fans on" or "fans off" 500 times a day! He speaks normally for his age. he makes eye contact and all that stuff i've read but its just that some things don't add up... like the problems with socializing, the fans, teriffied of doctors or any offices that he thinks is a doctor. (He was very sick and in the hospital 2 years ago) other than that, he seems very intelligent, loving, caring and loves to play (just not with kids) no he has not had any bad experiences.

I have a 2 year old daughter who LOVES to watch tv. She especially likes "Little Einstein", "Kipper", and "Dora". I know that letting your toddlers watch tv is not a good thing, but how much is too much. My husband works really long hours and there are times when I will put on a 25min show so I can get some stuff done around the house (cooking, laundry, etc) since she is a very clingy child and will otherwise not let me do much. I will usually give her puzzles or crayons while shes watching the show and try to get as much done while I can. I do this about 2-3 times a day. Is this too much tv for her? She is very smart for her age, she is very verbal, loves books, puzzles, drawing, etc.

From what I'm hearing, this is about double the norm for his age. Can too much milk be bad?!? If so, can you please give me factual reasons why? They are 6-8oz bottles. And yes, he still uses bottles, I will be trying to transition to the sippy cup only soon. He eats solids and table food well, 3 times a day. He sips on water out of a cup during meals only. He's very tall and trim, not a chunky guy AT ALL! So I worry that if I start to cut out bottles, he will lose too many calories and end up losing weight when he's so thin already (takes after his dad!) Oh, and we're using Infamil "Next Step" formula for toddlers, not cows milk, because i fear he had a reaction to the real milk when we tried it a month ago. Are there any cons I need to be aware of for using this 'transitional' formula for all his bottles? My son is the poster child for a healthy toddler....so why is any of this bad? Thx for any input!

He has this awfull attitude and thinks that if he doesn't want to do something he doesnt have to. When told he can't do something, he responds with, "Fine if I can't do that then I'm not gonna do (this)." He has a hard time listening to my stepdad, which is his new grandpa. He never answers him, ignores his questions, and doesn't do what he tells him to do. I have tried all sorts of punishment, talking with him, u name it I have tried it. Any suggestions on what to do?

My goal is to get together moms in their 20s to make friends, build relationships, and a network of support. Also, for the kids to play with other kids, and build their social skills. I'm struggling to get the group going. I've been spending way more time than I anticipated doing this. My group's been around 6 weeks and had 4 meets. Here's some specifics:
1. It's posted on the sight meetup.com. I have 30 some members, but only like 6 who seem to participate
2. Moms responded from all over, I've been trying to hit more areas to be fair about travel, that doesn't help 100%, even when I drive 45 mins to someone's elses neighborhood
3. Twice now, we've meet at those large busy parks, and it just didn't work with 2-3 yr olds. We were stressed out and all over the place

Anyone have any advice on making a playgroup take off?

At what age do you start using johnson and johnson shampoo instead of the johnson and johnson head to toe? My daughter is two years old and has very sensitive skin but I have noticed that her hair is starting to look more oily faster then what it use to look.
I have oily hair myself, my hair gets oily about 14 or so hours after I wash it.
My husband (her dad) has dry hair, he can go a two days if he wants without washing his hair and you wouldn't be able to notice it.

Has anyone ever used this product. What do you think. I'm considering it for my 2 year old. If you have used any other brand of Bathtub tints I would be interested in those experiences as well.
Thanks!

Because my mom is usually at work, I have to bathe my sister. My dad claims that he can't bathe her because he is a guy (you know).

Anyways, she doesn't listen to a word I say! It doesn't even take long to bathe her but she gets an attitude when it comes time to do it.

I don't understand how something like this can be considered a chore because my parents should have to take care of her.

I have tried to talk to my parents about her behavior, but they always think I'm trying to get out of bathing her.

My brothers keep trying to prove to our parents how bratty and spoiled she really is. They even tell them that I am not lying, but my parents just don't care.

I just got in trouble a few minutes ago because she smelled like a dog. I bathe her everyday, and I do a good job, but she runs around and gets all sweaty and stinky. My parents think that I just don't bathe her properly and that's why she stinks.

At six years of age, shouldn't she bathe herself? She'll be going to 1st grade!
