My son is not stop and is to tempted to touch the box fan we have in the window, I hardly ever leave the room but I'm so afraid of what could happen. Experiences?

I'm a very cautious mother and yes I just got him an a/c. I put the fan in his room as white noise, When I let him play in his room I usaully shut the fan off and put it out of reach. It's just a fear I have that his fingers could get hurt if I didnt put it up. I'm a great mother!!!

My middle son stuck his finger into a plastic box fan at a medium speed when he was not quite two. It hurt, he screamed and got a nice bruise and cut on his pointer finger. It wasn't anything life threatening and didn't require stitches but it left a nice mark that you can still kind of see now, 5 1/2 years later. We put ice on it and taped it to his middle finger along with a bandaid. It took a little over a week or so to heal. After that, i went out and got a screen, like one you would use for a window, cut it and put it over the fan. The air could still blow out just fine and served as an extra guarding material to keep fingers and toys out, though after that whole situation, my son was scared to death of the fan.
I'd suggest telling your son not to touch it, explaining to him what can happen and putting some kind of safety screen up. He's going to get hurt in the future. We can't keep our kids in a bubble and if youre kid gets hurt, it doesn't make you a bad mother.
Best wishes and good luck! =]

Go buy a wire screen or some other type of material that will allow the air to come through but is too small for tiny fingers, and cut it to fit the entire front of the fan. Remove the panel from the front of the fan and secure the screen to the inside of the panel. Replace panel. If you put it on the inside, your child won't be able to pull the screen off the fan -- and you can stop worrying about him hurting himself on the blades.

But even with the safety screen in place, you should still teach him to stay away from the fan. The sceen is just there as a precaution, and you wouldn't want him to think that all fans are now "safe" -- then get hurt at a friend's house who has not child-proofed their fan.

Hope this helps! Good luck...

He could do serious damage, even lose some fingers. Put the fan behind a window screen and make sure he can't reach it. Even then I wouldn't leave him alone in the room.

I am sure the fingers could get broken, however there are child friendly fans that fingers cannot fit into, they sell them at places like walmart and target. I would look into it just for the peace of mind so you can let him play.

Unfortunately I have heard of children cutting their finger tips off in fan blades. It's really not a safe thing...and I don't mean to scare you, because I too am paranoid of fans and my children's tiny tiny fingers!!!!!!

My son has done that, and it cut his finger. Fans can be dangerous... Maybe you'll want to switch to an air conditioner?

the blades going around could cut his fingers off.

no experience with that but why don't you get one of those fans with the smaller holes. Thats what I had to do for awhile.
