My son is now 3.. and SOMETIMES when he says his name he studders it... "d-d-d-d-douglas".... for example...
he says "d-d-d-d-douglas is handsome.. mommy is beautiful".
but if i say what did you say... he says his name perfectly..
is he just studdering that because he wants to say it so fast?.. or should i get it checked out....
i noticed he only does it when he wants to get my attention.. or when hes really excited about something... i only noticed him studdering to his name i havent noticed him studdering to anything else ...

He usually comes through to our room at about 5am and sometimes he will lie quiet but mostly he chatters and fidgets. He goes to bed at around 7.15pm each night, which we consider to be late enough. Any ideas how we can get him to sleep in, without keeping him up later? We have a blackout curtain up at his window, do not live on a main road and as far as we know there is nothing that wakes him other than his own (very early) body clock!. If we could get another 45 minutes we'd be glad. Anyone elses experience and advice will be welcomed. Thank you!

My son is 2 1/2 years old. I'm due with #2 in December and I really think he should be able to be out of diapers by then partially because I don't want to buy all those diapers but also because he's just too big. We have the cool little fisher price potty that talks and all that good stuff the problem is he wont tell you when he needs to go . Every single time you ask him something he says yes including to do you need to go potty. So yeah he goes when I ask him even if it's a tiny bit and he really didn't need to go however he will not tell me he needs to go even though he is really proud when I've asked and he went and he refuses to poop in the potty. Any ideas to get him to tell me when he needs to go? He does have some minor speech delays but he does know how to say potty.

My 15 mo usually have it around her siblings ages 7&5. She wants what they want or she she just plain wants. My other two did not have this problem. I started baby signing as way for her to express what she wants to help with the fustration of not being able to comunicate verbally, so far so good with that. What should I do for the youngster before she gets out of hand? Before she get to the point of accidentally hurting herself. Is time out even reasonable this early? Some relatives would even suggest spanking, which is completely out of the question for me! I'm just not sure at this point. I mean, I think that I was doing ever thing right with my children until now. As for my husband he have no problems with keeping the kids on point. I'm I the only one out there with this situation, I can't be. Please give me advice if you have shared this similar experience. I know that this is just a phase but support and advice would really help get me through. Thank you for your honesty.

:)

Hi, I'm planning to start on phonics for my 3 yr old son. He knows all the alphabits (all uppercase, 50% lower case) since he is 2. I tried to teach him letter sounds he would not listen or says only couple of them if I start with fun (H(a), S(nake) sound, etc). He keeps on doing that and I get frustrated stopped.

Do you think this 3 is the right age to start? How did you handle this?

Also, when to start on some difficult puzzles? How do you make them sit and do it? He tries couple of times, and then he would not do or ask for help all the time. If we push him to try himself, he will completely stop.

Please suggest.

Thanks!

He loves to headbutt everything - laundry baskets, toys, chairs. I really have to keep an eye on him or I'll find him standing on the back of the couch or climbing his dresser. Yesterday, was the worst of all, he did a headdive off the porch while his Dad (my fiance) was fiddling with the lock for the door. He can easily walk down the stairs but decided to leap off instead. I feel awful because he's always hurting himself. Is this normal behavior? He's a happy child, he's not doing these things out of trying to hurt himself.

My daughter has been putting herself to sleep since she was about 9 months old. I used the crying method, she got it in about two or three nights with no more crying. Then a month later used the same method to get her to sleep through the night and again she caught on quick!

We have moved to a new apartment and have been here for nearly a month, but suddenly she seems to start fussing almost crying before she falls asleep and then once a week wakes up in the middle of the night crying, just for a few minutes. Also the crying at night doesn't seem too urgent like I hear in the morning when she wants out of the crib. I leave her alone because I don't want to start a new trend and have her waking every night.

She has a night light, soft music, and the door opened just like she likes!!!

But what can be wrong?
Am I doing the right thing by not going in??

Thanks!!!!

My little one is 17 mths and has wide chubby baby feet, just normal podgy baby feet. Her toe nails however are odd - the big toe nails seem to scoop out and up like a pringles dipper - the skin around the nails is also very hard and rough. The nails are prone to splitting and cracking. The rest of her nails on her feet seem to curl under - almost into the toe itself if left. All her nails hand and feet grow extremely quick - they need cutting every week or so. She is a 1st baby so we are learning on the job! I deal with her toe nails by cutting them quite short - is this the right thing to do? Her shoes are fine they are all Clarks uk properley measured for length and width. Not sure what else I can do?

My baby boy 20 months old has lost his words. Had about 12 words as far back as October. Does not respond to his name being called or anything we say to him. Will not go in tub all of a sudden, screams so badly, I am sponge bathing him. Screams terribly lately if I try to vacuum. He used to laugh at the vacuum. Has become obsessed with taking out shoes and lining them up. He even falls asleep on the rug while staring at these shoes. Not interested in most of his toys anymore. Took him to ped. and she said it is not autism and ordered a hearing test at hospital for Monday. I am sick with worry.
