Call your local fire dept and see if they could do a birthday party at the Fire Station or have a party at a house and see if they could brin the fire trucks out. My husband is a firefighter and they do kids birthday parties quite a bit. My daughter's 2nd birthday was all fire themed and the kids had a blast! The goody bags had fire safety coloring books, sticker badges, crayons, etc. The birthday hats were the plastic red helmets. It really was a lot of fun.

How about somewhere like Craig's Cruiser's (go karts, mini golf, bumper boats, arcade place or how about a party at the local zoo?

The cinema in my hometown has some sort of birthday party package you can do so this might also be an idea if there's a good kids movie playing that you think he might be interested in.

throw a theme party kids love them. have it at a park. Depending on what he likes come up with cool games to go along with it. my kids who are 2 and almost six like the theme idea. for example for my 2 year old we did a blues clues theme and the games we played were pin the flag on mail box and find 3 clues to a prize. for my 6 year old we are doing the ninja turtles.

Well, first, what does your son like?(Wiggles, etc.) Then go to your local party store. I have seen many kid party themes there.
