My three year old often complains of pain in her legs. It happens most often at night when she wakes up screaming and thrashing around in bed, kicking her legs and saying they hurt. It can get quite scary for me and I'm sure it's scary for her as well. This has been happening for quite some time now, at least 6 months or more but it is sporadic so I've never thought to mention it to her pediatrician. When I ask her where it hurts she usually rubs her knee joint or shins but also sometimes her calves. We usually give her some light massage, as much as she can stand, and I always give her Children's Tylenol (tonight I used Children's Motrin) and she seems fine after that takes effect.

So I'm just wondering... is this common or should I be concerned something else is going on? My husband says it's just "growing pains" and he remembers having them when he was young. I never remember anything like that myself, nothing that made me scream and cry...

My 4 year old keeps peeing his pants and says its because he doesnt want to stop what he is doing to go potty. How do I stop this? And is this related to me returning to work recently and his routine being interupted?

My son is two and a half, and my first. My friends also gave birth the same year, so we all have children. My son though is different from the rest. He speaks fluently now, Greek and English. His grandmother is Greek and tells him fairy tales and he translates for me word for word. Yesterday, he sat down with me and began the myth of Hercules. For fifteen minutes he did not stop. I stared at him the whole time my mouth open. He counts to ten in three languages, knows both alphabets, can draw a letter or a number if I tell him to, can operate the DVD player perfectly and can rationalize with me. Is this normal? My friends' children don't so much as say mama yet. Anybody else see these things in their children?

My daughter gets very clingy and irritable when her grandparents come over. She says she doesn't want to go places with them. She usually isn't like this with other people, and she sometimes, though rarely, does want to be with them. My question is, when she is crying and says she doesn't want to go, what am I supposed to do? They are very pushy and tell my husband that I never let them see her (he works out of town), though they already see her a couple of times a week. I have never refused them, but I feel like I am teaching my daughter that her feelings are not important. What should I do?

My stepdaughter, the 2 year old, has an abnormally large stomach, she has to wear size 3T bottoms to fit her waist and 4T tops to cover her belly (and she is on the shorter side of average 2 year olds). Her mother gives her candy all the time, she has the snacks in her pantry at just the right level for a 2 year old and she is allowed to go in there to get something to eat whenever she wants and she is OBSESSED with food. She sits and stares at you when you are preparing a meal, keeps asking when it will be ready and when it is given to her, she shovels so much food in her mouth that she sometimes has to spit it out because she can't chew it and she breathes very heavily through her nose because her mouth is so full. We only have her one day a week and every other wkend so we do what we can when we have her. And we will have her in the summer for 4 weeks and will be taking her to the doctor then but is this normal? And what more can be done NOW?

I have already raised my daughter, she took to potty training no problem, and was using the toilet regularly since 2 1/12 years old. My son on the other hand is almost 3 1/2 and still uses his diaper/pull up. His doctor said to switch from pull ups back to diapers, but nothing is really helping. Anyone have any tips I can use?

When she was small (1 yr) we moved her cot to her own bedroom, and after 2 weeks of no sleep we moved her back to our room. At 18 months I took her cot out and moved her bed to our room, for about 2 months she slept on her own the whole night. And now she's sleeping wiht us again! I did put her back every time she woke up for the first few nights, but got tired myself and let her sleep with us (I know it's my fault) but what do I do now?? She does have naps (with me) in the afternoons for about 2 hours....Any help or advice will be appreciated. PS: Her dad does not see why I worry about this. But I would like to get pregnant in the next few months, and do not want 2 babies and a hubby in my bed...

I love to read and would love to buy a big book full of bedtime stories and nursery rhymes to read to my two month old daughter every day.
I am hoping by reading to her she will also grow fond of reading and be able to have the wonderful imagination that I had.

I'd rather get her one big book full of stories then a few little ones because although she does have a lot of books right now with single stories, we live in a small apartment so it would just be easier to keep track of if I just bought one big book instead.

Thank you very much!

My daughter is 17 months old, and she's recently started biting other kids when they get in arguments over toys. Twice now she's broken the skin of other kids. The day care is extremely scared of liability, so they sent her home for this week, which is very difficult as my wife and I both work and have no family or back-up day care in this area. Now they're willing to take her back, but if she bites like this again, they say their going to kick her out. So I have two questions:
1) Have you had this situation (the biting) and how did you resolve it?
2) Isn't it a bit extreme to kick out a 17 MONTH OLD for a pretty normal behavior?

For a little more background, I have two older kids (7 and 9) who never went through this. In fact, they WERE bitten in day care when they were young, and no kid every got kicked out for it. Also, we have always had doubts about the toddler's teacher and her ability to handle any kind of issue - this has really confirmed it.

THANKS!

My daughter is 2 and coming out of diapers already. Well the problem is that she is very tiny and the panties that I've bought her are size 2T. They fit her too big. Do they make smaller sizes. What do you reccomend?

My son is at a stage where he looks at me while doing something he knows he shouldnt (ex. touching the TV, or worse the oven) I tell him no and he slowly walks to it. Recently I started flicking his hand with my finger but feel guilty afterward. I say no and hold him away from it but as soon as I let him go he goes right back. If I "flick" his hand he usually just laughs at me too... i feel much worse than he does! I always follow through when I say "no" I think being consistant is most important! Thanks for any help!
