My daughter will be 3 in a couple weeks, and I wanted to throw her a birthday party with her friends from daycare. What is the easiest, cheapest, nicest place to have a party? Fast food restaurant suggestions welcome.

My friends' 18 month old throws a fit, screams and howls- and then holds his breath... until his lips turns blue. Meanwhile, everyone jumps up and down, shouting and waving over baby until he takes a breath, at which point not only the toddler but everyone present is upset. My question is two-fold: 1- is there any danger that a child could actually die doing this? (I am under the impression that the baby will pass out and then the brain takes over the breathing commands.) 2- is this possibly a control issue and how do you stop it? Another child in the family does the same thing. I've noticed that it is a very sucessful way for the children to get what they want. On the other hand, I feel a bit bad when I don't join in the frantic 'toddler dance'- like I don't love the child. What is the deal with this behavior? If I baby-sit and this happens, do I need to be worried?

My 26-month old daughter is growing very fond of Doritos, cookies, snack cakes and other junk food. I don't mind her having these things occasionally, but I want to keep her healthy and offer her nutritious snacks. She's a picky eater. What snacks do you other parents offer your 2 year olds? I thought about maybe carrot sticks (cut pretty thin so she can chew them). Also- what do you think about the baked versions of chips? I think they're really good- but what about for toddlers? Any other ideas? Thanks.

When this happens I have been making him eat half a bar of irish springs soap. It has not been as effective as I would like. Is there another type of soap that may work better? Or should I make him eat the whole bar next time?

The in-home daycare lady took 2 weeks maternity leave, and is expecting my 21-month old back next week. My daughter will now be the oldest one at the in-home daycare, with only 2 other children to play with in a small, 10 x 11 room. My daughter loves her in-home daycare lady. However, since she's been going to the public daycare here at work, she has become more independent, seems more expressive and talkative, and is starting to try and sing songs. I guess you could say she has "blossomed" in a sense. The daycare has said there is a spot open, so I could keep her here. The in-home daycare lady needs 2 weeks paid notice (which I would give her regardless), but I feel bad about keeping my daughter here at daycare because the in-home daycare lady NEEDS the money...But I see how well my daughter is doing here, so ofcourse her needs should come first. Ugh...can anyone give me some advice please? THANKS!!

I have a 13months old very active boy....he is at par in terms of height but weighs only 17lbs(he was born ow weight). I have heard that breastmilk has more fat but i have breastfed my baby throughout(infact still doing) and still he is not chubby.
He recently started teething and has become a very finicky eater....
I tried giving him high calorie food like avocadoes, butter, eggs etc...but he has been refusing everything...the only thing he enjoys eating is beans(legumes)...though its good source of protein i can't give him that all the time...
i tried dr.sear/s suggestion of grazing tray filled w/ healthy finger foods that he can grab whenever he likes but he has been playing w/ it and throwing on the floor...
pleeease give me some suggestions...although the doc says that itss just a phase and i shud not worry as long as he is taking enough fluids and is active...but still i am sooooooo worried...i want him to put on some weight thru healthy eating..pls help me

I take my daughter to a playgroup once a week, today we went to one in a different town, so there were different kids. There was a boy there who was about 3 and my daughter is 2. This boy chased my daughter around the whole time and kept hitting her andtrying to knock her down, I kept telling him to take it easy and he told me to shut up. then he jumped on my daughters back and that was the last straw. His mother sat right there and watched this and said nothing!!! I ended up leaving because obviously it was no fun for my daughter because i ended up carrying her around to avoid this kid. Anyway, what would you have done??? On the way home I was furious I didn't say something to his mother but it seemed a lost cause. Would you have said something to this dummy(the mother)??
